KEEPING UP WITH SCHOOL EVENTS
If you have not downloaded our School App we suggest you do. We have had great feedback from our community about this app to keep you up to date with everything that is happening.
ART WORKS
It’s that time of year again, where we are learning to produce some really good art to be made into diaries, calendars, sketch pads, mouse pads and cards. They make awesome presents for grandparents etc for Christmas. Teachers will soon be putting these works on display for parents to look at. Information forms are coming home next week. There are some sample copies of these products outside the office for you to view if you wish.
FUNDRAISING
REAR A BULL CALF FOR THE SCHOOL
In light of not being about to commit to slinks, this year, the Toko School Fundraising Committee would love those who can, to raise a bull calf (to 100kg) and then we would sell it as a fundraising opportunity.
If you are able to do this please contact, Paul Kowalewski 0276306248

FROM THE SPORTS DESK
Toko School Cross Country
We were fortunate to get some fantastic weather for our school cross country last Friday. We also managed to catch our last dive bombing magpie just before racing begun. It was a fantastic day and the children were really enthusiastic about the new courses, especially the ones who got to get out into the paddocks and hills. A massive well done to all of our runners for crossing the finish line. Thanks also to our parents and whanau who came to support on the day and those parents and friends of our school that helped with marshaling. If you have any feedback regarding the new course please feel free to e.mail: office@toko.school.nz

The Board will be able to make comment and then the final report will be made available to the public. We will let you know when this occurs.

YEAR 7 & 8 TECHNOLOGY
SUPPORTING LEARNING AT HOME
Number sense is such an important skill. It is the foundation that all other math skills are built upon. It is as important as letter identification and letter sound knowledge in reading. Students need to have a firm understanding of what numbers mean, what they stand for, and what numbers and quantities look like. Number sense is more than just identifying and writing numbers. Learners need to be able to talk about numbers, experiment with numbers, communicate their ideas, and most importantly be able to estimate. That’s why for the rest of this term, we will be giving you some ideas on how you can build this at home. We will begin with simple ideas, and then they can be changed according to the conversations you are having.
Mighty Maths problem
Estimate how long it will take you to get from home to school this week. Will it be the same every day? Why/Why not? How long will a return trip take? What about if you got a flat tyre, and it took 5 minutes extra?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Many thanks to Owen Hinton who has assisted in the orchard with pruning and spraying.
