Planning for your Future - California Colleges Guidance Initiative (CCGI)
JUHSD students and families, as you look to the future, register with CaliforniaColleges.edu to help you develop a well-informed college and career plan. Click here to view the JUHSD College and Career website and learn how CaliforniaColleges.edu can support YOU in planning for your future. CaliforniaColleges.edu is a free resource that lets you launch and track your California Community Colleges, California State University, University of California, FAFSA, and California Dream Act applications, all in one place. You can also monitor your CSU and UC eligibility, plan your high school coursework, and take advantage of a wide range of online college and career planning tools. Make an appointment with your school site counselor for additional guidance and support.
What’s New at CaliforniaColleges.edu
Students have access to a new financial aid feature! Financial aid is important for college access and success. We’re excited to announce our new and improved financial aid lessons. Students will find the financial information they need and presented it in a way that’s easy for them to understand. They can access the new self-guided financial aid feature by signing in and clicking on the green My Financial Aid Plan button.
12th graders will get step-by-step instructions for applying for financial aid.
Younger students will learn about the different kinds of financial aid and how to get money for college.

Welcome New JHS Career Technical Education Staff
Mr. Sachs is teaching in the Culinary Department. Culinary Arts students are preparing cookie bags for Back-to-School-Night on September 2nd. You can find Mr. Sachs on the track Wednesday mornings, before school, with his Food and Nutrition students. Students will leave this program with a ServSafe Food Handlers and Guest Services Gold certificate.
JHS is delighted to offer a new Computer Science pathway, with a focus on web development, taught by Mr. Lam. Mr. Lam's students will be introduced to the foundational concepts of computer science and it will challenge them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world.

Terra Nova Times - Back in Print!
After a year of being strictly online, Terra Nova's Journalism students are gearing up to publish their first edition of the 2021/22 school year in print, due out on September 7th. The Terra Nova Times publishes 13 issues a year, 16 pages per issue, and covers school, local, state, national, and international topics. Our student-journalists of the Journalism 1 and Journalism 2 classes are responsible for all content, from images and text to layout and design.
