Hayes Weekly Update
April 16th - April 20th
A Message from Mrs. Seybolt
We're back! I know many of you have mixed emotions about being back at school. While it was hard being away from our kids for two weeks, there are still some unresolved issues left at the Capitol. You walked for the right reasons. The community and parents rallied behind you. We are the only profession that worries about other people's kids. Teachers change lives. And now we enter the mucky part, the addition of school days and an hour to our school day. It will be an adjustment for all of us- even our students. I know that we will end the year strong because that is what we do - teachers always rise to the occasion.
I know the district is working on a plan to release teachers to the Capitol to advocate for our students and staff. When I know that plan, I will pass that information to you.
On Friday, we will recognize our students for their MARCH reading calendars. It is my expectation all teachers will be ready to recognize their top readers and students who read over 400 minutes in March.
Our kids have been out of school for weeks, they need to relearn routines and procedures. Please take the time on Monday to set our students up for success. There will be a note sent home tomorrow addressing the extra hour and testing. Please make sure that gets sent home. Testing will be our focus this week. Please make sure you have looked at the schedule and are aware of what is happening.
I'm one of those people who loves music. Sometimes songs will just speak to me. I watched the Greatest Showman again this weekend (if you haven't seen it, you should). This song spoke to me and made me think of educators and the past 2 weeks. I hope it speaks to you too.
As always, if you need anything please let me know.
We are Cardinal RED,
Michelle Seybolt
