July 2023
19 Days Until School Starts
Staggered Start
Staggered Start August 15-16
The start of the 2023-24 school year is quickly approaching and we are preparing for a great start to the year. Last year we provided a staggered start for just our 1st grade students and it proved to be very successful. Staggered start at the elementary level provides a smaller class size for the first two days of school. We will have staggered start days on August 15-16 with all 1-4 grade students reporting on Thursday, August 17. This means students in grades 1-4 will attend either August 15 OR 16. On each of the staggered start days, August 15 and 16, there will be a brief parent presentation in the cafeteria to introduce the building administrative team and review some of our building procedures as well as some changes for this school year. If you are not able to make it, I will be sending the presentation out to everyone through email later that day.
Most families should have received notification of which day their household will be starting school (August 15 OR 16). However, another update will be going out each week as a reminder as well as to include our new families that have recently enrolled.
We look forward to seeing your student(s) back for the new school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office at (614) 834-6200.
School Supplies
Please see the school supply list below for grades K-4.
Kindergarten Orientation Sign Up
Kindergarten Requirements from the Nurse
In order for your student to begin Kindergarten at Sycamore Creek Elementary, several documents must be submitted to the clinic within 14 days of registration. It is requested that these forms be submitted as early as possible as it takes time to process and input each student’s health information. Sycamore Creek Elementary Clinic’s contact information is located on the page attached. These documents can be faxed, dropped-off at the Welcome Center or at SCE office, or pictures of the required documents can be taken and sent to the email listed on the attached page.
Teacher Assignments
All families should be able to see their child's teacher assignment for this school year on Friday, August 4, by logging into Infinite Campus.
Attention all Kindergarten Families: Your child is currently placed in a teacher's class, and we have done are best to honor your preference for the AM/PM session if possible. However after initial assessments are done and kindergarten orientation takes place, some teacher changes and/or AM/PM placements may need to be adjusted. We try to make minimal adjustments, and we do appreciate your understanding when this needs to happen.
If you have not signed your student up for their assessments on July 31-Aug 4, please do so at this link: https://bit.ly.K22-23. The link to sign your kindergarten student up for orientation is above.
Meet the Teacher/Back to School Night
Back to School Night/Meet the Teacher Night will be Monday, August 14, 4:00-6:00. We have assigned times to help manage the amount of people in the building during this time as well as our parking situation. If you are within walking distance to the school, and are able to walk to the building, I would encourage you to do so.
For students attending their first day on August 15, you are invited to attend Back to School Night between 4:00-5:00. Teachers will be doing a brief presentation/introduction in their classroom during this time beginning at 4:10 and again at 4:35. Both presentations will be the same.
Students attending their first day on August 16, you are invited to attend Back to School Night between 5:00-6:00. Teachers will be doing a brief presentation/introduction in their classroom during this time beginning at 5:10 and at 5:35. The presentations will be the same.
During Meet the Teacher, you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher, hear a little bit about the year, learn how to best communicate with the teacher, and drop off any school supplies to their classroom that might make coming to school on the first day a little easier.
Kindergarten parents, there will be a meeting for parents of students attending in the AM at 4:00 in the cafeteria, and at 5:00 for parents of students attending in the PM.
