MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL TODD CORSETTI
Thank you to the Beaverton community for passing the district’s renewal levy in May. This community has continuously supported the students and staff of the Beaverton School District, and we are so fortunate to partner with all of you!
Speaking of partnering, our MPACT organization was recognized by the district at the WE Awards in May. MPACT received the community award for their work in building culture and creating events that promoted community at MHS. We were the only high school to be recognized. Great job by the MPACT Board and volunteers for getting us off on the right foot!
Hard to believe that summer is upon us. Normally, this is the time in high schools where we are saying goodbye to seniors and working with our next classes to continue our legacy. It's awesome to know that all of our students are returning and that we can ride this wave of positive momentum into the next school year. It truly has been a great year. A year that has far exceeded my expectations.
In year’s past, high schools have conducted registration days in August. Now that most of the functions of registration are done online, we will not have registration this August. In early August, you will receive a packet of information including how to update your enrollment verification and pay for fees online. Chromebook handout and pictures will take place during the school day. As always, please call the main office if you have any questions.
Our hope is that summer is a time of rest, reflection, growth, and learning for our students. My hope for our students is that they work hard and play hard over the summer. Encourage your son/daughter over the summer to continue CONNECTING, continue EXPLORING, and continue PURSUING in preparation of the year to come!
If you have questions, you can reach me via email at: todd_corsetti@beaverton.k12.or.us

summer office hours
Monday through Thursday, 8:00AM - 2:00PM
August 6
Return to regular office hours, 7:30AM - 3:30PM
attendance
If your student will be absent during finals week, please have them pick up a "Finals Week Pre-arranged Absence Form," at the attendance desk. The student will need to obtain a signature from each teacher and make arrangements for a make-up final before leaving.
summer chromebooks
We are going to allow/encourage students to keep their Chromebooks for the summer. It both allows students to keep their Chromebooks through the last final without the check-in process being problematic, and also allows those students who don't have access to technology to keep it through the summer. We have detailed this information in the following Summer Chromebook Letter. Families, please read through the letter for more information about responsibilities of the student, and tech troubleshooting. The MHS website will have hours listed in the summer listing hours that students can get tech support. Please stay tuned.
We used extended period on May 31 to talk students through a short "Check-Up" on their Chromebook to make sure that it is in proper working order prior to summer. The check-up requires all students to fill out a GoogleForm which provides necessary information for the library. Parents, you are welcome to also fill out this form, particularly if you DO NOT want your student to keep the Chromebook for the summer. This form tells the library whether the students will opt-in or opt-out and will allow students' Chromebooks to be renewed for the summer without physically going to the library for renewal. Students who wish to return their Chromebooks for the summer must take it to the MHS library by the end of the last day of school Tuesday, June 19, 2018. If you have any questions, you can contact Rosa Rothenberger or Rebecca Bair.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
We are excited students will be able to continue learning over the summer using their Chromebooks, yet we recognize that technical issues may arise requiring some level of support. If your Chromebook needs repair, please bring it immediately to the school office, Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 2:00pm. You will need to complete a repair form with details about the problem. If possible, we will repair the Chromebook and get it back to you during the summer. The sooner you get it to us, the faster we can get it repaired and back to you. If you want to chat with tech support, come during these times:
Onsite Tech Support (8am to 11:30am)
- June 25 & 26
- July 9 & 10
- July 25 & 26
Additional FAQ:
Q: What do I do if my Chromebook gets lost or stolen over the summer?
A: Notify the MHS office and we will disable the device. If the Chromebook is stolen, the Beaverton School District will require a police report to be filed by the student's parent or guardian. For more information, see the District Chromebook Information web page.
Q: What do I do if my Chromebook gets a liquid spill?
A: Turn the Chromebook off immediately and do not turn it back on. Bring it to the MHS office as soon as possible and complete a repair form.

student volunteers needed for summer tech help
We are looking for students who are interested in volunteering to help prepare Mountainside technology for the 2018-19 school year. The work will include setting up labs, moving computers, prepping Chromebooks, etc. No tech experience is required. All students can earn one hour of community service for each hour worked. If interested, please complete this Google Form. Signing up does not obligate you, but means you will be on a list to be notified when help is needed. If you are available, you sign up to join the team for that day. Be sure to include an email address you will check over the summer. If you have questions, please email Lisa Rouse.
leadership
Mountainside High School will be hosting our very first community movie night in the Mountainside courtyard on June 8th from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Bring you lawn chairs and blankets and come join us for a free showing of The Incredibles. We will be selling kettle corn, snow cones, and cotton candy, so bring your friends and family. On top of it all, we will also be fundraising for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Please come and make a difference to a child somewhere.
STUDENT COUNCIL EXEC BOARD
Congrats to the students who were selected to be our first Student Council Executive Board. These students all had to go through an application process, teacher recommendations, individual interviews in front of a panel of adults, and the Presidential applicants even had to give speeches in front of the student body and staff as part of their elections. We are all very proud of these students and the many others that applied. The students who were not selected will still be Delegates in Leadership 2 next school year and will to continue to work on building a positive and inclusive culture here at Mountainside.

You have the opportunity to be part of an exciting and entertaining 2018 show. Eighth grade band members are welcome/encouraged to attend this Spring and should get to MHS as early as they can after school gets out on those days.
Parents can get more information about marching band by attending a short parent preview event at 6:30PM on June 6th, just prior to the concert. Our General Parent/Student Meeting and Spring Registration will be on Saturday, June 9th at 9am in the MHS Community Room.
