Thunderblast 2024
Taking Risks by OWNING Our Learning- January 7, 2024
Time
With 9 school days left in Semester 1, now is the time. Please take this moment to review Student/ParentVUE together as a family. With many middle schoolers, that involves taking out an agenda and writing out daily steps, including seeing teachers during resource and after school. If you don't have an agenda and would like one, students can visit their counselor to get one. On Friday, we shared a slideshow during advisory with active study strategies for students. This would be a great presentation to review at home. These are skills that will support our students well beyond middle school.
This Week's Events:
- Wed, Jan 10 at 9:00 AM- PTO Meeting in the Library
- Thu, Jan 11 at 6:30 PM- Guitar 7 Concert
Multicultural Cluster Event- Jan 18
- Urbano Modern Italian and Arepas Plus (Venezuelan Cuisine) have generously offered to partner with us. We are also looking into ordering from other local restaurants.
- This event is 100% free to EACH family.

- Students from our entire cluster will be showcasing their work through fashion shows, food samples, posters, music, color guard, and dance.
We hope to see you for what we know will be a great evening!
Postcard Exchange Project
8th Grade English students have written and mailed off post cards corresponding with students from all 50 states and beyond! I am excited that they are using this authentic project to learn about different cultures and continue to practice their writing skills!
Bounty of Books
I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! The new year has started, and we have added a lot of new books to the library - both in school, and online. Need something to read? Send Ms. Abrahamsen an email for some recommendations.

Staff of the Week
Our learning specialist team working with our most vulnerable students this year have been exceptionally patient, collaborative, and kind as they have grown a program from the ground up. We would like to thank Ms. Brewer, Ms. Howard, Ms. Cadang, Mr. Cadang (not pictured), and Ms. Cora Nazario for working tirelessly through thick and thin to do any and everything to help our students be successful. You are a great team!
