The Green Bin: What Goes in the Compost Bin and What Doesn't
OUUC has a long history of recycling and composting. We also encourage our members to do the same at home. Lately, there's been some confusion about what is compostable, and what is not. Thurston County Solid Waste has composting requirements that may be different from other parts of the country or parts of Washington where you lived before. You can watch their short 2-minute video here.
OUUC also has the allowed materials posted on its green composting bins in the kitchen and in the Commons. It's important for us at OUUC and at home to put only allowed materials so that contamination does not happen and the systems can run smoothly. Thanks!

Gentle Yoga Class
OUUC choir member June McKenzie will be offering an 8-week in-person Gentle Yoga Class beginning January 11 and ending March 1. The 75-minute class will start at 11:00 am, end at 12:15 pm, and meet at church.
This Gentle Yoga Class is not chair yoga, but it is for anyone from beginner to experienced. The moves are slower, and the poses are held longer. Each class will focus on breathwork, alignment, and relaxation. Each class will end with deep relaxation. The only equipment you need is a yoga mat—a light blanket and pillow are optional.
June has been teaching yoga for 20 years in a variety of settings—with women in hospitals, youth detention centers, and drug and alcohol treatment programs. Her background and studies have been in Hatha, Yin, Kundalini, and Anusara yoga practices.
