The Silver Laker

April 2023 Edition

No April Fools antics when it comes to our Black Tiger Pride!! Bring on Spring

Big picture
Our Black Tiger Pride Gnomes on the Roam made another appearance the week before Spring Break to see how our Silver Lakers were keeping that BTP going! Students earned special BTP Gnome on the Roam Tickets and on the Friday before break they were drawn out of our box for some cool gift cards courtesy of our Home and School League! Our BTP Gnomies said they might be back and to keep Living that Black Tiger Pride.

Morning Arrival

Doors will continue to open at 8:30am, regardless of temperatures or weather so plan accordingly. Thank you for all you do for our Silver Lakers!!

Reminder: the tardy bell rings at 8:45am.

March Top Tigers

Each month two students will be recognized at a Board Meeting for being Top Tigers. Top Tigers are exemplary in their character traits and their effort. What an honor it is to be recognized by your teachers at a Board Meeting. Proud of these Silver Lakers for all of their Black Tiger Pride!!

Jump-a-Thon

Our annual Jump-A-Thon was an enormous success yet again! Mrs. Angelo and the Silver Laker students set a goal of raising $2500 and they actually raised over $3500 for the American Heart Association! Thank you to everyone for contributing and for making a difference in the lives of others.

Silver Lake Elementary Fine Arts Fest

Mrs. Shelby Miller, Miss Bittner, Mrs. Zimmerman of HSL and all of the other wonderful volunteers deserve all the credit for such an amazing event for all of the Silver Laker Family! We had art on display, we had a book fair, we had snacks and we had live musical performances! We can't wait to see how we can make this even bigger and better for next year :)

Art Sparks 2023: The Hummingbird

Once again our 3rd graders took part in the Art Sparks Performance with their 3rd grade counterparts across the District. I am incredibly proud of our Silver Lakers!

Playground Use Outside of School Hours

Before School, we ask that no students be on the playground sets as there is not any supervision outside until the bell rings at 8:30am to allow students into the building.

After school, once students have joined their parents/guardians and are in their care and under their supervision, students may be on the playground sets. Again, this is an issue with supervision and we do not want anything to happen to our little Black Tigers.

Parents with students picking up younger siblings (HS or MS students): please have conversations regarding how they should not be playing on the equipment when Elementary School is still in session. I understand that older students get out earlier but that becomes a disruption to the end of the day here. I appreciate all of you help with this matter.

Parents: Please help us in monitoring students when playing after school. Our equipment was drawn/ written on underneath the slides in permanent marker. This could have been on a weekend so it might not have necessarily been a Silver Laker but I am hopeful that with staff and parent vigilance we can keep our equipment nice for a long time to come.

Lost and Found

Is your child missing a coat? A sweatshirt? Multiple items? They might be here in our lost and found. If there is something missing please have your child look here. If you know of something that is missing please call the school and describe it so we can see if it is here. If you'd like to set up a time after school to come check it out, we can set that up too. We just want to make sure all of these nice items find their way back home :)

Silver Lake Staff Spotlight

Meet our Kindergarten Team

Get to know: Mrs. Jessica Reichley

I was born and raised in McComb, Ohio and I am the oldest of three. My parents were both teachers and my dad was also an elementary principal. You could say that teaching is in my genes! I graduated from Bluffton University with a major in Early Childhood Education and completed my Reading endorsement at Heidelberg University.

I taught for two years in Northwest Ohio and moved to the Northeast Ohio area and have taught in both public and charter schools for the past fifteen years in Summit County. I have been a part of the Cuyahoga Falls school district since 2014 and love working at Silver Lake Elementary! I am excited to begin my seventeenth year in education!

I am married to my incredible husband, Kenton, and we recently celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. We have two wonderful boys. My oldest son is Blair and he is 12 years old and a 7th grader. My youngest son, Jase, is 9 and a 3rd grader. They are so much fun and they keep me on my toes at all times. We also have a cat, Scarlet, and two rescue puppies, Ellie Bosa & Dobbins Njigba, who without a doubt make our family complete.

I am a huge football fan (Go Bears and Buckeyes!) and volunteer as a “team mom” for my son’s youth football team (Go Falcons!). I also help coach youth basketball each winter.

Get to know: Mrs. Angela Watson

Hello! This is my 19th year teaching in Cuyahoga Falls and my 19th year of teaching kindergarten. I began my teaching career at Preston working as an ISGI in kindergarten. I taught kindergarten for 2 years at Richardson. I moved to Silver Lake and I have been teaching kindergarten at Silver Lake for 16 years. Silver Lake is an amazing school and I love the staff that I work with!

Outside of school:

I have a wonderful family. My husband (Chris) and I are high school sweethearts. We have three amazing children. Amber 15, Kalie 14, and Bryce 12. My children are very active and are very much involved in school and sports. My husband and I enjoy watching our kids compete. We also love hiking, traveling, and hanging out on our patio at home.
