Nixon Elementary Weekly Update

April 19, 2021

Mid-April Check In

Hello Nixon Families!

This week our updates are for all Nixon families. Please take a few minutes to read over the information below and reach out with any questions.

ISASP: Our ISASP window begins this week! For our in-person learners, we create a testing schedule to assess learners during the school day here at Nixon. For our remote learners, please see the flyer below for testing days and times for coming to test at Nixon in person.

Also, something exciting for both in person and remote learners taking the ISASP; we will be drawing names from those learners who participate in the ISASP at Nixon. For every assessment they take, your child's name will be placed into a drawing for a Nixon T-Shirt or CRCSD Water Bottle. We are hopeful this will encourage our learners and families to send their children to school ready to take the ISASP over the next 2 weeks!

CRVA: Cedar Rapids Virtual Academy is providing an elementary learning platform for any families interested in continuing their children in a remote learning environment. If you are interested in CRVA, would like to know more about what it will look like for elementary learners, or find out if this opportunity would be a good fit for your child and family, please reach out and I will do my best to answer your questions. Even if your child was not a remote learner this year, you are still able to enroll them in CRVA. There have been many changes to what remote learning will look like moving forward, so please email with any questions.

Picture Retakes: Picture retakes will be held on May 4th. If you missed our first picture day, or you'd like a do-over, keep an eye out for more information about retakes in the upcoming weeks.

Upcoming Events:

  • April 19: ISASP Testing Window Opens
  • May 4: Picture Retake Day
  • June 4: Last day of school!
  • June 4 & 7: Remote Learners turn in their computers, power cords, and any materials that belong to the school.

Have a fantastic week!
