AP Registration and Ordering
AP STUDENTS AND FAMILIES:
>AP Students will be asked to register for AP Exams this fall by October 1st. This process will occur during their scheduled AP course with their Mount Horeb High School AP teacher. Each AP teacher will provide a unique join code for students to access their respective sections of their College Board AP Classroom. Once they have joined, students will indicate their exam decision. The exam decision has a default to ‘yes’, if a student does not wish to take the exam they will have to specifically select the ‘no’ or ‘undecided’ option. Spring 2024 AP Exams will be in a paper/pencil format scheduled for the first 2 weeks of May.
>The exam fee is $89. College Board issues a $40 late order fee for students who order an exam after the deadline and a $40 cancellation/unused exam fee for any student who decides not to test after the initial order submission. If you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch you are eligible for an exam fee waiver and your IC portal fee status will reflect this fee status. However, Late order/cancellation fees cannot be waived.
>Mount Horeb High School will assign and collect fees through the student/parent portal of Infinite Campus. Students must register for their exams through their College Board account by October 1st. Once registered for the exam(s), the fee will be assigned through the fee tab on Infinite Campus. The exam registration fee must be paid by November 1st to ensure that an exam will be ordered for your student. If you pay after November 1st, you may incur a $40 late order fee from the College Board.
>If your student is preparing for an AP exam independently without enrollment in a corresponding AP course at Mount Horeb High School please contact Sateash Kittleson (kittlesonsateash@mhasd.k12.wi.us) immediately to ensure an exam is ordered for your student.
JUNIORS: PSAT
On the morning of October 19th, MHHS will administer the optional PSAT Test for Mount Horeb High School juniors. Interested students must register to take the test using this form by Friday, September 15 at 3:45pm. The cost is $18.00 and must be paid prior to taking the test. See more details in the previous communication that was sent to junior families earlier this month.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a 2-hour 45-minute test that measures critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills developed over many years, both in and out of school.
Taking the PSAT/NMSQT is the first step in entering the scholarship programs conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition that began in 1955. It is conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government funding.
JUNIORS/SENIORS: ASVAB
The military sponsors a free, standardized multiple-choice test entitled ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). The series of tests measures your aptitude in five separate career areas. It may be useful for your own general information as well as relating your aptitudes to various military career opportunities. The test will be offered at MHHS on the morning of Tuesday, October 31st. Please indicate interest in this examination opportunity by signing up in the Student Services Office no later than October 20th. Please visit the ASVAB website for more information about the benefits of this examination and military opportunities.
JUNIORS: ACT
Juniors will be taking the ACT with Writing here at MHHS on March 20, 2024. The ACT measures skills in English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. These areas are tested because they include the major areas of instruction in most high school and college programs. The results from the test will be used for admissions purposes next fall when you apply to prospective schools, including many programs at Madison College. If you are planning on taking additional ACT tests, please see the list below of dates and registration deadlines. Our students typically take one or two ACT exams in addition to the March ACT taken here at the high school. Please visit to www.actstudent.org to register for an additional ACT opportunity, if desired. Contact your School Counselor if you need assistance with the registration process.
