FASFA Time is Here!
Families of seniors: It is time to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)! Join us for one of our FAFSA Nights to walk through the application step-by-step. They each take place from 6-8PM in the high school cafeteria. Below, you will find the dates:
- October 5th
- October 7th – Led by Tarrant County College (TCC)
- October 19th
Before attending, we ask that you and your student create an FSA ID. Both a student and a parent account must be created in order to fill out the FAFSA, and you can find the registration link here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Items to have ready for completing the FASFA include:
- Your Social Security Number
- Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- An FSA ID to sign electronically.
Since most of our students will be categorized as dependents, the application will ask this information of both the student and parent.
Health Screenings
Every student in Texas is required to have vision – hearing – spinal -acanthosis nigricans screening during their elementary and secondary school education. This includes all students new to FWISD.
Students in the 7th grade at BMHS will be required to have these screenings completed. In addition, 8th grade boys- will have spinal screening conducted.
Care will be taken to ensure social distancing and sanitizing headphones between students.
Separate letters are attached for information for students that will have the spinal screening and/or acanthosis nigricans screening completed.
We will begin screening the month of October. Please make sure your child is wearing their glasses or contacts to school.
If your child fails any of the screenings, you will be notified.
If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Masoud by calling 817-815-7100 or email her at sharon.masoud@fwisd.org
Senior College Visit
Wednesday, October 13, our Seniors will be going on a field trip to visit one of the following colleges: University of Texas Arlington, Texas Christian University, and Tarrant County College (Campus Drive). We will depart from BMHS at 9:00 and return no later than 3:00. In order for your child to attend, I must have all permission slips returned no later than Thursday, October 7th. Permission slips were sent via email to parents and students were issued permission slips at school. A printable PDF of this permission form is attached below.
