Wimmer's Weekly
English IV, Yearbook, & Writing Skills/Technical Writing
Week 18 (January 8-12)
This week, Room 115 will be busy working on our next yearbook deadline, reading and analyzing Shakespearean sonnets, and breaking down the English I & II EOC STARR exams.
I'm so glad to be back and to see your students' smiling faces.
English IV
We will be reading Sonnets 75, 39, 29, 31, 130, & 67 (in that order). We will analyze meter, tone, mood, purpose, and meaning.
Yearbook
Additionally, I we start working on UIL participation at this time. I am the adviser for all of the journalism competitions. We have some amazing headline writers and feature writers this year, so you may want to encourage your yearbook staffer to let me know if he/she is interested in competing this year.
Writing Skills/Technical Writing
For the time being, this week, we will get to know each other, take a couple of diagnostic tests on both paper and online, and start breaking down the STAAR exam for a better understanding of what testing skills are needed to be successful.

About Mrs. Wimmer
I grew up in Muleshoe, Texas (near Lubbock) and I was anxious to get out of the Panhandle ASAP. I chose to go to college at SWT (now Texas State), where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. I met my husband Max there, and decided to become a teacher after I realized the TV news world is not so family friendly. It was the best decision I ever made. I went back to Texas State to get a master's degree in education, and while working on that I had a daughter who is now almost ten!
This is my 14th year teaching and I absolutely love it. Everyday, I look forward to the interactions I have with my students. I respond so much quicker to email than to phone messages, but feel free to contact me any time!
