A MESSAGE FROM MRS. BOOTH
This week also brought tragic news for the Oxford school community. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this tragedy. As a parent of two high school students, I found myself faced with different emotions, while also trying to help my own children process through what had happened. Therefore, I know that this news was incredibly difficult for our own school community.
Should you find yourself in search of how to address these conversations, I am sharing with you an infographic ----> Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents & Educators. Among the tips, one I feel may be helpful which I found supportive with my own children is to reaffirm safety while listening to and validating feelings. As moms and dads, teachers and principals, we often feel like we have to have all the answers, but sometimes we find ourselves struggling to have those answers, and that is okay.
As mentioned in District communication, we continue to follow a variety of safety protocols to protect our students and staff at Silver Springs and continue to work with local First Responders to review our safety and security protocols.
We are fortunate to have a fabulous team of support staff at Silver Springs should any of our students need additional support. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or myself if you feel your child needs assistance.
Please hug your loved ones a little tighter this weekend!
Be well,
Katie Booth

Leader in Me Focus for the Month - Habit 2 Begin With the End in Mind
December At Home Activity
This month’s Habit: Habit 2 Begin With the End in Mind
Activity: Family Mission Statement
Due Date: December 17th
Please click the button below to access the activity. We would love to have you share your Family Mission Statement with us by December 17th, so we can proudly display our families practicing the 7-Habits at home!
Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind- "I have a plan"
What this means: Have a mission, a clear sense of where you want to go. Think about the end first- how are you going to get there?
“I plan ahead and set goals.”
“I do things that have meaning and make a difference”
“I am important part of my classroom.”
“I look for ways to be a good citizen.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Write down your goals. It is said that "A goal not written is only a wish.”
2. Lay out your clothes for tomorrow the night before.
3. Write down 3 goals you want to accomplish.
Great Books for Habit #2 - Begin With the End in Mind
- The BFG by Roald Dahl
- When I Grow Up by Sean Covey
- Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin
- Little Bunny on the Move by Peter McCarty
- The School Story by Andrew Clements
- Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto
- Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse
