My Summary
This book is about a boy named Pony Boy, and the sometimes brutal rivalry between the Greasers and the Socs. After almost getting in a fight at the movies, Pony Boy and Johnny, a friend in his gang, get jumped in the park. Johnny kills Pony Boy's attacker, and then they want to run away from home because they get scared. they find their friend and gang member Dallas who gives them money and a loaded gun, and tells them to go hide in an abandoned church. They feel like it's time to turn themselves in when Dallas tells them that he is going to go get them. While they are waiting for Dallas to come, they notice that the church is on fire with kids inside of it. While saving the kids, Johnny gets hit by a falling beam, and is put in the hospital. The Greasers and the Socs finally decide to have a big gang fight to see who the best gang is, and the Greasers won. They go to the hospital to see Johnny to tell him the good news, but just a few minutes after seeing him, they watched him die on his hospital bed.
