The Lion's Share Newsletter
September 2022
From the Desk of Mr. Miller
Before I begin to go over some of our important points for the month of September, I really want to affirm all of you! The first few weeks of school have really been a smooth transition for our Lions from summer break to jumping back into school! They have done such an incredible job and I would like to really thank all of you for your support at home!
Starting the day off for our students and teachers is so incredibly important! It really does make a difference when your student is here on time. We have been averaging about 35 students a day coming in late (after 7:50 a.m.). Having a 1st grader myself, I know that mornings can become hectic quickly! Please help your Lion by having your student here at 7:35 a.m. so they can start their day off with their class right at 7:40 a.m. Any student arriving after 8:10 a.m. will be marked absent for the morning marking period. Also, please be sure that if you pick up your student after dismissal at 2:50 p.m., that they are picked no later than 3:00 p.m. each day. We really do appreciate the help!
I hope that I can ask for those parents & guardians dropping off and picking up each day on Shadowglen, where our busses park, to please be mindful of our neighbors. Each year, we have parents park in our neighbors driveways and/or block driveways. Please only park in the blue handicap parking if you have an active placard. We have many families that need to park along the blue curb and we want to ensure they have that space if needed. Even if you are only parking there for a quick few minutes, I would ask that you not park there without a placard. Lastly, please be aware of students crossing at the 4 way stop at Shadowglen and Westwood, and be sure to give our Lions the right of way as they cross safely.
Finally, we hope you will be able to join us for our first fundraiser of the year on Saturday, September 10th! This fundraiser is an easy one! Simply show up at our local Chipotle, located at 5079 N. Academy Blvd., between 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and let them know you are there to support Grant! Chipotle will give 33% of all sales back to the school! We hope you can join us for some tacos, burritos, and fun!
Have a wonderful September and I appreciate you taking the time to check out our newsletter!
Thank you,
