FEDERAL IMPACT AID CARDS
Federal Impact Aid Cards will be sent home on Monday, September 19th! PLEASE be sure to fill it out completely and return it as soon as possible. Why?
Federal Impact Aid is an education grant program that provides funding to local school districts whose resources can be strained by nearby military installations. Normally, school districts are funded by taxes, including property tax from which military installations are exempt. Federal Impact Aid was created to provide schools that educate government / military children with funding to replace the lost revenue they would otherwise receive from taxes. (**PLEASE NOTE: There are a lot of federal agencies here that are not located at Redstone Arsenal, (TVA, Social Security Administration, etc.), so it's not only tied to Redstone. In addition, if the parent or legal guardian reports to work at a government facility, or works in government-owned space, they would be eligible.)
The funding that we receive in Impact Aid has a BIG IMPACT! Impact Aid provides funding for learning materials, equipment, staff, special education programming, JROTC programs, and building improvements.
So, what can you do?
It’s simple: By thoroughly completing and promptly returning this brief survey, you contribute to your child’s school funding!
It isn't very often that the government tries to give us money, in this case they would like to give us as much as possible, so let's help them out. Make sure your child gets the quality of education he or she is entitled to. Fill out your Federal Survey card promptly and completely, as incomplete cards cannot be submitted for Impact Aid.

CONGRATULATIONS MATTHEW DEAN & AMELIA HARRISON NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS
On September 14, 2016, officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program, which included our very own, MATTHEW DEAN & AMELIA HARRISON!!!
About 15,000 of the students will become finalists. They will compete for 7,500 scholarships worth $33 million, to be awarded in the spring. Finalists are chosen from 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools, who took the PSAT.
The nationwide pool of semifinalists represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. The number is proportional to the state's percentage of the national total of graduating seniors. We are so proud of Matthew & Amelia for achieving this great accomplishment! #BuckPride
NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 420 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!
You can easily sign up to round up online:
http://www.hsvutil.org/myhsvu…/checkbill/roundup/signup.html
It might be a penny, it might be 25 cents, it might be 99 cents, but it will be no more than $11.88 a year. It takes less than 1 minute to fill out.
Thank you for supporting one of our community partners! Go Bucks!
