Shelli Frankowiak has been voted Alaska Elementary Art Educator of the Year by her peers and members of the Alaska Art Education Association! Each year AAEA puts out a call to art educators across the state to nominate a member of the profession as an art educator of the year in elementary, secondary, and overall. This year Shelli was overwhelmingly nominated and voted as their choice. Fronteras is so grateful to and so very proud to honor Sra. Franckowiak and all of her accomplishments!

Club's Choice Fundraiser!

Monday, October 3rd was the kick off for our annual fundraiser! Each student will be coming home with a fundraiser packet. It will include the following:

Catalog

Order form

Prize Flyer

And most importantly, the parent letter with the coupons.

These coupons are how students are entered into daily prize drawings, get their animals, and how we keep track of sales. Each time your student sells the number of items listed on the coupon, you fill it out and turn them in.

I come to the school daily to collect coupons and draw prizes. The kids get really excited so make sure to hand them in as you go!

Online sales count towards coupons but you DO NOT INCLUDE online orders on the paper order form.

Please do not hesitate to call or text me with any questions (Misty Adams 907-232-8319)

Payment is collected at the time of sales, checks are made payable to Fronteras.

The fundraiser ends October 14th allowing us to receive items before Christmas break!

Thank you!

We have practiced layering dyed sawdust during art classes and are currently working in groups on our alfombra designs. This will be a MASSIVE project, spanning 140 feet using up to 200 lbs of sawdust!

Parent volunteers will be needed on the day of the event, Wed Oct 12th, for the following:

  • Photographer for the event
  • Drone photographer for event
  • Helpers to mix dye into sawdust (please wear old clothes)
  • Helpers to cut cardboard stencils designed by our student artists

Parent volunteers will be needed after the event, Friday Oct 14th, for the following:

  • Helpers to clean up the sidewalk starting around 12:30PM.

Fronteras does not have a lunch or breakfast program. Students will need to bring a packed lunch from home, as well as a snack every day to be eaten in their assigned classroom.

Lunch time reminders:

  • No Top Ramen or Cup of Noodles unless precooked and stored in a thermos. Top Ramen and Cup of Noodles takes too long to microwave causing safety issues and not allowing enough time for your child to eat their lunch
  • No lunch items requiring more than a minute to microwave
  • No microwave popcorn
  • No glass containers, this has proven to be a safety hazard
  • Students need to bring a labeled water bottle every day to school

Need Transportation?

Parent, Rebecca Brown, has secured a 15 passenger van to transport students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to and from the Boys and Girls Club! Asking a donation of $20 weekly to help offset cost for riders. There is a new dismissal exception for this service in School Dismissal Manager. For more information, please contact Rebecca Brown at 904-349-4729!
