Behind the Stripes
Jan. 23
This week OHS Freshman Josie Ray has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Josie is an integral member of Ozark High School Dance Team even as a freshman, Head Dance Team Coach Shawnna Wilson said.
"Josie works endlessly to improve her technique and skills. She is dedicated to being a better dancer each day," Wilson said. "Earlier this month, she took first in the freshman solo division at the Farmington Dance Invitational. In addition, she is a great teammate to work with and brings even more enthusiasm and joyful chaos to our team."
Josie said she loves her team and is thrilled to be recognized.
"To have this recognition is such an honor," she said. "I am so grateful for an amazing and supportive team, and for all of the opportunities I've been given this year. I value all the friendships I've made."
Congrats Josie!
This week OHS Sophomore Hudson Roberts has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Hudson is a member of the Boy's Varsity Basketball team and helped the team to success at a recent tournament at Shawnee Mission West in Kansas City.
"Hudson had an excellent tournament at Shawnee Mission West," Head Coach Mark Schweitzer said. "He averaged 24.7 points per game over the three games of the tournament, including a 38-point explosion against KC East Christian where he made nine three-point field goals, only one shy of the school record of 10. He was also selected to the All-Tournament Team and is handling the adjustment to varsity play very well."
Congrats Hudson!
This week we are honoring three awesome artists, Senior Gavin Robertson, Junior Matthew Baum, and Senior Will Elliot as our Artists of the Week. The students were all selected earlier this year as members of the Missouri All-State Choir, Matthew and Will as basses and Gavin as an alternate. The trio was recognized at the last Ozark School Board meeting on Jan. 19. Additionally, Matthew and Will traveled to the All-State Choir conference last week where they got to perform.
OHS Choir Teacher Connor Gately said this trio is an integral part of the Ozark High School Program, and not just for their musical talent.
"The impact these three have on our program is much deeper than just their musical abilities," Gately said. "Their leadership, strong work ethic, and dedication to help others succeed has left a mark that will positively affect the Ozark Choral Program for years to come."
Congrats Gavin, Matthew and Will!
