Week 5, February 25 - March 3
Week 5
We are starting Week 5! I contacted all parents last week about student progress, but please contact me at any time if you have questions/concerns. As we start Week 5, we begin a new unit, Unit 3, Los Viajes (The Trips). Just a reminder that as we continue to go through the semester, all units are now 2 weeks, with specific assignments being due each week. Students only have to attend one RLC every two weeks, but are encouraged to attend more than one per unit if they want to. Students should have finished all assignments for Unit 2 this past Thursday evening, February 21. Please speak with your student and make sure he/she has completed all assignments for Unit 2, especially Unit 2 project, and is ready to start Unit 3. Below is a list of what is due by this Monday, February 25 and Thursday, February 28.
There are 3 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 3 this week and next. I will be teaching my RLC tonight @ 8pm. Please encourage your student to attend!
What is the Culture Cafe?
The Culture Cafe is an opportunity for student to receive extra credit for his/her grade. Students can attend any Culture Cafe that has to do with culture of any country. Students can go to their Home page on Canvas and click on the icon, The Culture Cafe for a detailed list of future Culture Cafe sessions and how to log into the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit. Below is information about the next Culture Cafe that is offered.
Just a reminder about the Late Policy
Keys to Student Success
The main keys to being successful are:
- completing all assignments (*well and on time*) (using the Schedule of Assignments), reading the announcements daily, checking/reading messages daily
- going through the direct instruction and practice as slow as needed to understand the material
- taking/studying notes, reviewing the grades/feedback for all assignments to see what was missed and why
- attending the required live classes
- asking questions when something doesn't make sense and/or more explanation/practice is needed
Would you like to observe your student in our class? You can see our announcements, check your student's grades and see his/her assignments/work submitted along with my feedback.
