"As a member of the Continental Army, I promise to be Accountable, Respectful, Motivated to Learn, and do mY best."

Our vision is to ensure that all students are WMS ARMY Strong and are prepared for high school, college and careers.

Bus Change to Rotherwood

There is some construction going on so busses will be lined up along the side of WMS and students will load up in this location on a temporary basis. Please be patient and come a few minutes early if you are needing to get somewhere as there will be increased congestion on this side street as well as construction.

Immunization Clinic

Students who still need their immunizations will have access to Immunization Clinic at Washington on Wednesday. If your child needs their shots updated, please contact Nurse Peaugh on the main school line. We are lucky to have this opportunity for our students and families.

PSAT for 8th graders

On Tuesday, our 8th graders will be taking the PSAT. This is the practice test for the college entry exam. The SAT is required for most college or university applications, so EVSC has decided to make this an opportunity for all eighth grade students across the district. Research shows that the more students take this test, the better they do when it counts. Please contact the EVSC Offices of Performance and Assessment Research or Mrs. Branson if you have questions about this test.

Social Worker Groups

Mrs. Miller, Youth First School Social Worker at WMS, is holding weekly Lunch Bunches for students. Beginning in November, these Lunch Bunches will include The Zones of Regulation focusing on self-control, Coping Skills, and Anger Management Part 2. If you are interested in more information or having your student participate, please contact Mrs. Miller at 812-477-8983 x 4 or hmiller@youthfirstinc.org A consent for services must be on file in order for a student to participate.

Report Cards Coming Soon

Thursday, October 4 marked the end of the first grading period. Please take time to check your student's grades online and discuss with them how they feel they are doing as well as what goals they have for the next grading period. If you have any concerns, please be sure to reach out to your student's teachers.

Weekly homework will be due on Thursday of this week. These assignments will be assigned every Thursday and due the following Thursday of each week. In order to attend Enrichment opportunities on Fridays, students will have to complete these assignments on time AND have zero F's.

Weekly homework is assigned based on tasks that are aligned with the work they are doing in class and with skills necessary to be successful. All assignments are posted on the teacher websites linked below. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teachers or call the main office.

Yankee Candle PTSA Fundraiser

We're partnering with Yankee Candle Fundraising to help achieve our goal this year. They are the world's #1 candle brand and they offer a wide range of premium candles, and decor items at a very wide range of prices. But the most important thing to know is that a percentage of every sale goes to us!

Yankee Candle Fundraising offers two ways to shop - catalog and online. To shop online, please visit the link below and enter your group number 999982513. Invite friends and family to support WMS! Visit the link below and click on the "Seller Login" button, then fill out the "Sign up to be a seller" form and use the group number 99982513 to register.

We will be selling from October 1-October 31. Please make checks out to WMS PTSA.

The top seller in all three grades will earn a ride to Walther's Golf and Fun in a limo and an afternoon of fun!

PTSA Membership Drive

The PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student-Association) is a private, non-profit organization of parents, teachers, students and community members who strive to better the lives of children. We are part of an association that is organized at the local, state and national levels. Our focus is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting our children.

Your membership to the Washington PTSA does the above, plus allows our PTSA to have events for our students, plus provide items that the school needs that are not allows budgeted by the EVSC.

Student members receive one free dress day per grading period, along with free entrance to all 3 dances, and ice cream day per grading period, a coupon book designed just for them with great discounts for PTSA sponsored events.

Individual memberships are $7.00, a double membership for $12.50, 3 memberships for $18.00, and a family 4 pack for $25.00. The PTSA only keeps $1.75 of each membership sold. The remaining amount of $5.25 goes to the Indiana PTA dues, and the National PTA dues.

So while we advocate for students when needed, we also do some fundraisers. The goal this year is to help the school purchase a new projection system and screen for the auditorium. In order to do this, we are fundraising, we are having restaurant give back nights, we are doing Yankee Candle Sales, and a few others coming up. So please support your PTSA, and join today.
