Silver Gate Elementary

Week of May 24, 2021

Dear Silver Gate Families,

Starting on August 30, 2021, we are proud to continue in-person learning for all students, including five full days per week of on-campus instruction that follows established bell schedules, transportation routes, in-person meals, and extended-day programs. All SDUSD schools will continue to monitor and follow health and safety guidelines. While in-person, full-time instruction is the primary and recommended mode of learning for all students next year, the district is offering a virtual academy for K-12 students who choose to remain online.

Our San Diego Unified Virtual Academy will offer a robust online magnet school available for students K-12. This Virtual Academy will provide rigorous daily instruction substantially equivalent to onsite instruction, which includes grade-level standards-based lessons and District and State assessments. Teacher directed instruction, at our District Virtual Academy, will require students to be highly engaged and responsible for completing all class assignments. The only option for comprehensive online instruction will be offered centrally through the Virtual Academy rather than at neighborhood schools. Students may have on-campus opportunities to receive academic support, labs or hands-on activities. High school students will have opportunities to participate in athletics.

The Virtual Academy will provide instruction for all participating students, including students receiving special education services and multilingual learners. The Virtual Academy will provide virtual IEP services, as outlined in student’s IEPs.

The Virtual Academy will not offer the following programs: Early Learning, including Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Dual Language, International Baccalaureate (IB), and/or STEAM/VAPA Magnet.

Please take a few minutes to complete the enrollment form below with your information and make a selection for Fall 2021-2022. Families that do not respond to this enrollment form by May 26 will be automatically enrolled for in- person learning.

We look forward to continuing to serve and support your child during our upcoming school year!

from point loma high school cheer advisor: amy denney

I'm the Cheer Advisor at PLHS - and I'm hoping you can add this information to your next eblast. Unfortunately we still don't know if we'll be allowed to host youth camps this summer, but it's our primary fundraiser, so we're really hoping!

We made this Google Form to start gathering contact info from anyone who might be interested in enrolling a child, in the event we're allowed to have a camp.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Lots of great items in the lost and found rack!
