Music Districts 2018; Summary written by Taryn Emerle
This past Saturday, around 25 dedicated students from GD’s music program auditioned for the Central District Massachusetts Chorus and Concert Band. Each of these ensembles are comprised of over 100 kids from a variety of schools in Central Massachusetts joining together to perform in a grand concert in Mechanics Hall (which will take place this January). 10 students made it into the Chorus: Josh Booth, Jem Booth, Taryn Emerle, Matt Liliedahl, Andrew McCusker, Finn McGillivray, Emily Miller, Neil Prestia, Olivia Ray and Matt Sucheki; 3 students made it into the Concert Band: Henry Vandermillen, Emily Rimkus and Max Wheeler. Not only that, but 6 students got All-State recommendations: Taryn Emerle, Andrew McCusker, Matt Liliedahl, Matt Sucheki, Henry Vandermillen and Max Wheeler.
These are very impressive numbers for GD’s music program, and students like Andrew McCusker are very excited to partake in this concert. Andrew has sang in the District Chorus for the past 2 years, and says “It’s something I always look forward to, it’s great to meet and connect with so many people. Performing in a choir of that size and in such an incredible venue is so exciting.” Andrew is also a longstanding member of GD’s Chamber Choir, which has a number of exciting events coming up, such as a fundraising performance at St. Joseph’s Church in Pepperell on December 2nd at 2 pm. Looking forward, GD’s Winter Concert will be taking place on December 11th at 7pm, and will showcase the talent and dedication of the entire music program, so be sure to mark your calendars!

We will be conducting state-mandated vision and hearing screenings for all 10th grade students on Tuesday, December 4, 2018
School-based vision and hearing screenings are intended to help identify common vision and hearing problems and do not serve as a replacement for regular comprehensive examinations by a doctor. If your child requires additional evaluation based on the results of the screening you will notified in writing by the nurse.
If you would like your child excluded from the screening please submit a written request to the school nurse by November 30, 2018
Please contact the school nurse, Cheryl Shea @ 978-448-6362 ext. 1018 or cshea@gdrsd.org if you have any questions.

Yearbook
ATTENTION PARENTS: DON'T MISS THE SENIOR TRIBUTE AD DEADLINE (11/30/18)
The deadline for submitting senior tribute ads for the yearbook is fast approaching. You can build your ad online (which is, by far, the most popular choice for GD's parent) or, if you still have print-only photos you want to include in your ad design, you can go "old school" and have our staff design an ad for you. Here is the link to help you get started.
