Our Department Vision Is:


In the Social Studies department all students will develop into responsible, engaged citizens who are prepared to succeed in the world beyond graduation. The perspectives gained through the study of Social Studies allows for the growth of empathetic individuals who are respectful of global and cultural diversity. The academic rigor and instruction within the department coursework fosters independent critical thinkers with coping skills to persevere through challenges. Skills that students develop will be applied in the ever changing technological world.

  • Senior Lunch

  • Students will report to their regularly scheduled lunch

  • Cap and gown distribution during Senior lunch-Please remember all financial obligations need to be met prior to receiving your cap and gown.

  • Last Day of School for Seniors (Grades close)


May 30, 2023


  • Senior Breakfast, Whites of Westport 9:00am


  • Somerset and Berkley Middle Schools Walk–12:15 p.m.

    • Students are asked to wear their graduation caps (& gowns if you’d like)

    • Middle School students will cheer, greet, and honor the Class of 2023

    • Get a few yearbook signatures from your Middle School teachers and principals


  • Elementary School Walk-throughs–1:30 p.m.

  • The principals of North, South, Chace and Berkley Community School invite students back to elementary school

  • Students are asked to wear their graduation caps (& gowns if you’d like)

  • Elementary students will cheer, greet, and honor the Class of 2023

  • Go back to where it all started and, maybe get a few yearbook signatures from your elementary teachers and principals

Reminders:


  • Students please be sure to clear out your school Google Drives. For information on Google Transfer please click the link.

  • As of August 1, 2023 you will NOT have access to your school Google accounts (emails, files, etc.) and all email, files etc. will be deleted and unrecoverable so please plan accordingly.

  • Upon graduation, you should be using a private email account to communicate with colleges, military, etc.

Senior Summative Assessment Schedule

Below you will find the assessment schedule for seniors. These are full school days for seniors. The last day of classes for seniors is Friday, May 26, 2023. Should you be sick on the day of a final, you should arrange a make up time with your instructor during that week.

Get a $3 Sub at Jersey Mike's To Benefit SBRHS

On May 31 or June 1, bring a coupon from SBRHS to Jersey Mike's and pay $3 for any regular sub. All proceeds will go to the Kyla McGarry Scholarship Fund. Coupons can be picked up in the Main Office and are good from opening to close at Jersey Mike's in Somerset on May 31 or June 1.

Ocean State Star Award Winners

This year, the SBRHS Drama Club participated in the Ocean State Star Awards based out of the Providence Performing Arts Center. OSSA (Ocean State Star Awards) was set up to highlight the fantastic work of high school theater programs and give students and teachers critical feedback on their performances.


We are thrilled that SBRHS was nominated for 25 awards and have officially won 8! Our winners and a few of our nominees will now perform at PPAC on June 4th at 7 PM.

Best Buddies Prom

Students from SBRHS, Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and Oliver Ames High School attended the Best Buddies Prom at SBRHS on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Special thanks to David Berube, for donating his DJ-ing skills, the SBRHS Best Buddies Leadership Team, Ms. Hipolito and Ms. Keith and all of the chaperones for volunteering their time. It was a fun night for all involved!

Orchestra & Chamber Ensemble Recognition

We are pleased to announce that students in the Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble earned Silver Medal Awards for their performances at the MICCA Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The hard work and dedication of our ensembles was recognized and we congratulate all of our students for the following awards:

PLTW Award Recipients

We are very excited to share that industry professionals have selected Serena DaSilva, Lily Botelho, Paige Uon and Alexis Ivy for the exceptional project they submitted to Mass STEM Hub’s Student Industry Connect program! Out of all the high school biomed projects submitted, they’ve earned 2nd place.

In recognition of their achievement they are awarded an opportunity to participate in an industry internship this spring and/or summer. In addition, your students will receive a certificate and a banner to display your much-deserved bragging rights in Mr. Talbot's classroom.

2023 Congressional Art Competition Award Recipients

Congratulations to Henry James who was the runner up for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. His photograph titled "Lost" was selected to hang in Congressman Jake Auchincloss's office in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Recognitions also go out to Aaron Almeida, Abby Kinnane, Sara McNally, Leandra Paul, and Analise Winslow who also had work on display yesterday at the Attleboro Arts Museum.

BCC Award Recipient

SBRHS student Loren Botelho was honored on May 11, 2023 at Bristol Community College's Student Awards evening. Loren was recognized for all her hard work at Bristol Community College over the past two years. She received the Curriculum Award for Perseverance and Growth.
