Homecoming 2020 Special Edition

We want to share the great memories that were made during Spirit Week and Homecoming, October 5-9. Please take a few minutes to look through this special edition of the Dragon Weekly and click on a link under Spirit Week to see all the students and teachers who dressed up.


Homecoming is a BIG tradition at Mountainburg Schools and for the community as well. This year had to be modified due to the pandemic, but nonetheless, many memories were made.

THE FOOTBALL JERSEY PICTURES

The Homecoming Court from 2013 came up with the idea to do football jersey pictures. This has become a tradition for the court each year.


For 2020, the escorts were asked to participate in the photoshoot with their maid.

2020 Mother-Maid Luncheon

For 15+ years, the homecoming maids and their mothers have been treated to a special event - the Mother-Maid Luncheon.


It began in the MHS Home Ec Room but has since been hosted off-campus at the home of Sue Holcomb, Amy Ortlieb, Carol Coleman, and Jennifer Belcher. It has also been hosted by Mountainburg Presbyterian Church. This was the third year for it to be hosted by Penny Reed, Tammi Gregory, and Jeannie Wilken at Mountainburg First Assembly.


A special thank you to JZ Lawn Care for a donation to purchase the frames for the maids' collages and the two footballs that were signed by the Varsity Dragons and presented to the queen's two escorts.


This is a special time for each maid and her mom. They have pictures taken, eat a nice meal, and the maids are then presented with their collage of photos from the day jersey pictures were taken and their flower for homecoming.

SPIRIT WEEK 2020 - all things disney!

The theme for the week was Disney! And the participation was fantastic all week at each campus.


Thank you to everyone who took pictures and has shared them. There were lots of pictures taken!

OVERALL SPIRIT WEEK 2020 WINNERS

A daily spirit week winner was selected at each campus. A student and a teacher each received a prize of a Gatorade and a gift certificate from either Neon Moon, Pizza Den, or Geno's Pizza in Alma.


Then an Overall Spirit Week winner was chosen at each campus by the teachers. Thank you to Kopper Kettle Candies for donating six of their delicious candied apples that were given as prizes.


The Varsity Dragons Football Team and Cheerleaders appreciates everyone participation!

Each year, the homecoming maids are asked to invite an alumni football player as an escort. This year, they weren't able to escort the maid, but they were introduced onto the field to stand behind their maid and her dad.


Thank you Dragon Alumni Football Players for doing this each year. You make this time very special for everyone.

The more people involved, the bigger the event!! We love to have as many students and former students involved as possible during the pre-game ceremony. A huge thank you to Ms. Lockhart, Mr. Atwell, and Mrs. Payne for their help with the pre-game ceremony practice and line up.
