The Campus is Opening Up on April 11!!
On Monday, April 11, our campus will be open which means no more entering and exiting from a designated gate for the remainder of the school year. Parents and family members will now be able to walk their children to the classrooms as well as pick their children up on campus at the end of the school day. Here are a few reminders of our rules and policies as we transition to our open campus:
- There is no supervision provided by school staff on the playground before the first bell rings, in addition to no supervision provided by staff after each grade's dismissal time.
- The 4/5 Gate on Channing and the K/1 Gate on Alester will be open at 7:55 am and they will be closed at 8:10 am. These gates will also be opened around 5 minutes before the end of school. The main hallway will always be open because it does not have a gate.
In accordance with PAUSD guidelines, “once school is dismissed, all students not accompanied by an adult are to leave campus for home and/or childcare.” In other words, all students must proceed home or be picked up at dismissal time. Students who are not picked up must go to the office and parents will be contacted.
No dogs or other animals are allowed on campus during drop off and pick up.
According to PAUSD guidelines, parents with children waiting for the dismissal of students may be on campus if they:
Remain (with their children) on the blacktop or at the picnic tables until school is dismissed.
Supervise their children.
Do not disrupt teaching and learning programs.
Dismissal Times:
11:15 for TK
2:30 for Kindergarten
2:35 p.m. for grades 1-5
Wednesday: 1:05 p.m. for all students
Maintaining a subdued and quiet atmosphere near classrooms where instruction is still in progress. Children are not to play with balls or other equipment while waiting.
Enabling teachers to have full and unfettered access to the picnic tables, blacktop, field and playground structures.
All children and adults are expected to “Walk their Wheels” to prevent accidents and injuries. More specifically, riding on bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, etc., before school begins is not allowed. Please walk your wheels after school ends to promote safety for everyone too.
Sincerely,
Leslie Crane
