Hello YCIS Families--

Part of my day is spent popping in and out of classrooms and observing the learning opportunities that are taking place. This is an enjoyable part of my day and I am proud of the quality, care and thoughtfulness that our teachers are putting into their lessons. Our students benefit greatly from their planning and preparation. Even with some of the obstacles and limitations that are in place our students are being educated at a high level. Please take note of the following events that are happening at YCIS:

Red Ribbon Week 10/25-10/29-- This has been an annual event at YCIS to help promote a healthy, drug free lifestyle as well as building school spirit. The dress up days are listed below and click on the link to learn more about Red Ribbon Week. We will award prizes for best dressed each day.

Synergy Updates. Some parents have expressed concern that they are unable to access updated grades in ParentVue. The issue was on the Synergy side of things and has since been resolved. Please check in your student's grades through ParentVue or by reaching out to individual teachers. We will have progress reports sent out in early November leading up to parent/teacher conferences.

Parent/Teacher Conferences. Mark your calendars for parent/teacher conferences on November 22nd and 23rd. There will be more information to follow as we get closer.

Battle of the Books. OBOB is on! Please check out the flyer below. There will be two divisions in our building for grades 3rd-5th and 6th-8th. For grade 6th-8th please reach out to our librarian Karissa Peterersen for more information at petersenk@ycschools.org. For grades 3rd-5th please reach out to Cindy Roberts at robertsc@ycschools.org.

Please scroll down and meet our new 4th grade teacher Mrs. Hooker and if you have photos of our YCIS students in action please send them my way and I can add them to future newsletters. Fall is in the air, please bundle up and stay warm. Remember if your students are showing any symptoms please keep them home.

Sincerely,

Matt Wiles
