"WELLS TIGERS ARE RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE LIFELONG LEARNERS"
July 20, 2018
A Note from The Principal
Dear Wells Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am so excited and looking forward to welcoming the students and families back to Wells. I hope that you have all had fun and safe summers and we can’t wait to see you back in our school!
We had a very successful 2017-2018 school year and are proud of all the hard work that was demonstrated by our students and staff! After reflecting on feedback, data, observations, and surveys, we are moving into this year excited to focus our learning on our writing instruction and the planning process. Our staff has been hard at work at the end of last year and over the summer learning, and look forward to the teaching and continued learning throughout this school year. We will continue to set goals and work on the other many facets of highly effective teaching, however, we look forward to our focus on these two areas.
We additionally have made adjustments to our systems of communication out and dismissal processes based off of observations, feedback, and survey results. Weekly (generally on Friday’s baring holiday schedules) we will be sending out an online newsletter through our Wells eNews. This newsletter will have a section for each of our grade levels and teams on campus, besides what it has been including in the past of school news, upcoming dates, feeder school news, etc. Additionally, this same newsletter will be sent out via grade level emails on Friday’s to their parent group email. We encourage all parents to sign up for the Wells eNews as we will be sending out these newsletters, as well as additional emails with time sensitive information in case of emergency, information form the district, and other messages from the school.Parents must now register for our eNews and MyPISD.net through Parent Portal https://www.pisd.edu/gradebook. All other subscribers may register by going to http://elist.pisd.edu/ We hope this streamlined form of information being shared will be helpful and beneficial.
At Wells, we place safety and security at the highest level. The arrival time in classrooms has been moved up to 7:30 a.m. to help with the the safety and calmness to the start of the day. The dismissal process at Wells has been tweaked slightly to improve our safety and security, with walkers being dismissed from a new location. The details of our arrival and dismissal process are outlined in words and in a visual format attached. We ask for your patience as we start with this new system on day one of the school year. We will work to make adjustments as need be based on any issues that arise, however, we are confident this adjustment will increase the safety and security for our students and families.
I truly can’t wait for our staff to be returning in less than two weeks, and our students and families shortly thereafter. Without the hum of students and teachers, Wells is not the same place and we can’t wait to welcome all the smiling and happy faces that make Wells the amazing place that it is!
Sincerely,
Sara Meyer

* UPDATED - Wells Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Wells Parents and Community Members,
We want to thank everyone for providing us feedback throughout last year and through our survey last spring. Based on this feedback as well as observations throughout the year, we will be making a few slight changes to our dismissal procedures for the 2018-2019 school year. We are excited about these new changes and believe it will make our dismissal process safer for our students, and less congested for all forms of dismissal. Additionally, we have adjusted the time for which student can enter the classrooms to 7:30 a.m. to help provide extra time to get settled and ready for the day. Please see below for a verbal and visual explanation of our arrival process, and tweaked dismissal process.
