Trauma Informed Care Training - UPDATE
Trauma-Informed Care is required for all district employees, however, it is not required to be completed by teachers on February 3rd. Research indicates trauma-informed schools include benefits such as an increase in student achievement, a safer school culture, fewer drop-outs, and teacher retention.
The Counseling Department is offering Trauma-Informed Care to fulfill the requirement for all staff to be trained in trauma-informed practices in each school (Senate Bill 11 & HB 18). All staff members (professionals and paraprofessionals) can check Eduphoria for upcoming training sessions, including three sessions on February 3.
Click below for the newest CEU requirements to be completed every 5 years:
Librarian/Resource Specialists, Diagnosticians, Reading Specialists
Because teachers are unable to attend on February 3rd or sign up for the other dates offered due to the times they are offered we are going to need to look at an after school training.
Paraprofessionals - I would suggest you find a training that you can attend on February 3rd, complete it and the asynchronous learning so that you don't have to stay after school. If a session is full please get on the wait list. They'll likely open more spots.
Want to get better at Data Digging in Eduphoria Aware?
Some amazing click sheets for lots of ways to pull data!! I've also placed these in our Testing Folder in google drive.

Jams from Jana!
We are so excited about our partnership with Prodigy Math! Since we have so many good resources available, we need to think about how to manage the amount of time student spend in each program. Here a some suggestions on how to make sure that students are putting time into all of the programs we are using to track data in math.
Managing Math (smore does crazy things with bullets, excuse the crazy numbers)
- Create a consistent schedule for student time on each program during asynchronous learning. (Time can also be scheduled during iTime especially on Friday)
- Students don’t always follow the schedule, so check data every couple of days to make sure they are working in the programs.
- Since Imagine Math is the district program, require students to pass 1 or 2 lessons per week before they are allowed to use Prodigy during free time.
- It is proven that giving students time to play Prodigy at school increases the time they spend on the program at home, so schedule a Prodigy session early in the week to get them excited and they will get their minutes in on their own.
- Education Galaxy has good instructional videos that can be worked into your lessons so that students can make use of that as well.
New Education Galaxy Feature!
Video Messaging allows teachers to record a video for their whole class or individual students. These videos pop up the first time that a student logs into their account and are required to watch. After student's watch the video it saves in teacher chat under the "video messages" tab for up to 45 days.
It’s super easy to record your own video message! Simply go to "Student Center" -> "Video Message" and begin recording your video.

Substance from Selena....
Next week, I will be working on DRA testing. I will still pull student groups, but I will not be in classes due to pulling students for DRA. Please let me know if you need anything during this time.
Shout Outs!
Today, the students found a new homepage in Canvas. I told the students we were going to make inferences about the new page. In the morning, I told them they needed to observe what was new and to infer what was the secret message I was sharing with them. In the afternoon, I asked them what they have inferred about that page. Some of them said I was telling them need to study, others said I was telling them they need to go to college, I have one who mentioned MAP testing. One student said they need to study all subjects to go to college!
With the visuals I used, I confirmed the students frequently focus in only one detail and often forget to review all the evidence.
