Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion 2nd grade with Sra. O-R
The kids did such a GREAT JOB!!
Learning plans for the week of June 1, 2015
Our last week of school will be a blast!
This week we will have a summer themed week with literacy and math. (Think all your favorite books about summer and practical math use (story problems that are kid-sized and play-based).
We'll also review ALL the stories that the kids have read this week (and all the Spanish vocabulary that went with them). The kids will also take a final English spelling inventory (not studying needed!) to assess their spelling progress this year.
Again, I'm going to be sending home a short note with report cards so that I can let you know what I've observed and noticed about your child's learning since we talked at conferences.
Homework for the week
Read or be read to at least 20 minutes each night.
Have you seen www.commonsensemedia.org? It's a great site for parent learning (and kids) about our digital world (and information about all the social media and apps that kids want to use (but maybe shouldn't...). Check out this very short, readable article about "the summer slide" and how to avoid it.
My favorite quote-- "...remember, it's OK -- in fact, it's beneficial -- for kids to get bored, too. Downtime encourages kids to use their imagination and creativity and develop their inner selves -- essential skills they can use all their lives."
