Update from the Teacher
School Closure Week of 6/7 (LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!)
Wow! We made it everyone. Everyone take a big breath. Even though this school year did not end how we were expecting it or as we would have hoped, I am still proud of all the things we accomplished and all of our hard work! Hopefully, if anything, these times have shown you that together we can get through anything. I wish all of you nothing but success in your educational future and beyond. Who knows what the future has in store for you, but I know that if you believe it, and if you work hard, you can achieve it. As for myself, I will be moving on from Kilby after this school year. My family and I are moving to North Carolina to raise our family and continue our careers. Thank you all for a great year (no matter how it ended) and I wish all of you the best in your future endeavors.
Below is a letter from our admin team with instructions on how to pick up your child's belongings. We only kept belongings of those who responded to our survey:
We are preparing your child's personal items for pick up. If your child has library books, musical instruments, safety patrol belts, or other items that belong to the school, you are encouraged to return those items when you come to pick up your child's items. We are not asking parents to return digital devices at this time, as we are hopeful that students will continue to use the devices for learning activities during the summer break. The items you requested will be distributed by grade level on the following schedule*. Please try to adhere to our distribution schedule as much as possible, as this will keep everyone spread out for the item pickup.
Tuesday, June 9
9:00-10:00 – Kindergarten and Preschool
10:00-11:00 - 1st Grade
11:00-12:00 - 2nd Grade

*If you have children in multiple grade levels, please plan to pick up your items(s) at the time appointed for your oldest child.
When you enter the Kilby parking lot, please be prepared to follow our staff’s direction, as we will be distributing items using the bus loop. For the safety of our staff and families, please stay in your vehicle at all times. Our staff will be practicing social distancing and will be using protective equipment to facilitate everyone’s safety. Please be patient and follow the direction of our staff when entering and leaving the school property.
Please note: Only staff will be allowed to enter the school building, as the building remains closed to the public.
If you have a question about this information, please contact Ms. Ruth Barrios at BarrioRN@pwcs.edu or (240) 273-4613. We look forward to seeing you next week.
