TWO of Westmoreland's finest teachers will be playing in the big game!!!
MISS LENOCI and MR. NODARSE!
Come cheer them on! The game will take place the evening of May 8th at Fair Lawn High School!!! Tickets are on sale now.
National Letter Writing Month
This week, students have been learning to write and properly address friendly letters to send to classmates and friends! The excitement throughout our school is outrageous as the mail truck rolls up and down our hallways.
Thank you to 2L for serving as our post masters this week!
Parents and family members are also encouraged to participate! Simply address your letters to your child(ren) using the classroom address attached and give them to your child’s homeroom teacher. Your child’s teacher will be sure that they are mailed and processed by our postal workers (a.k.a our second graders). This is a wonderful way to get students excited about reading and writing, while reminding them of how proud you are and how much you care at the same time.
Final mail delivery date:
Friday, April 28th
Take your child to work day, 4/27
Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is an annual event for school-aged children, sponsored by the Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation.
Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2023. The purpose of this day is for the student to shadow their parent for a day while observing their work site, which will show the student the relevance and need for school skills in the real world. This day is certainly not mandatory. Many children will still be here in school and a normal instructional day will take place.
Should you choose to take your child to work on April 27th, please complete the attached form so we may validate the excused absence in our attendance system.
District Gifted and Talented Committee
The Fair Lawn School District seeks committed parents to serve on our Gifted & Talented Services Ad Hoc Committee. This ad hoc committee will aid the district in developing policies and procedures that comply with the new Strengthening Gifted & Talented Education Act (SGTEA). Participants support research-driven, evidence-based improvements to our gifted and talented services continuum. Committee members will also receive training on gifted and talented education.
Please complete the survey—using the link below—if you are interested in participating.
Upcoming CogAT Screener Testing in grades 2 and 4
In the coming weeks, the CogAT Screener will be administered to Second and Fourth Grade students. If your child is in Second or Fourth Grade and already took the CogAT Screener in the Fall of 2022 because they were new to the Fair Lawn School District, they will not retake the assessment. The CogAT Screener consists of verbal/picture analogies, number analogies, and figure matrices. Data gathered from this assessment will enable us to plan effective programs for our students and make decisions regarding academically talented programs.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Michelle Kelly, our REACH Enrichment Specialist.
