RMHS MIDTERM EXAMS January 2023
All students will participate in midterm exams. We will not be doing Real World Problem Solving this year with the juniors.
Expectations (from the RMHS Student Handbook, p. 16)
Mid-Year and Final Exams
Exams are scheduled for 4 days at the end of each semester (in January and in June). Two exams are scheduled per day.
Semester-length courses generally have a 2 hour exam which counts for 20% of the student’s semester grade. In courses where an exam may be inappropriate, an alternative evaluative activity is scheduled. In courses that meet every other day, appropriate assessments are scheduled.
Students are not required to be in school except when they have a scheduled exam.
The usual school support services are available to students during exam days.
*Makeup exams due to illness or other excused absences must be approved by the Main Office
Senior Exam Exemption Guidelines
Seniors who earn an average of at least a B through the end of 4th quarter (83-86), and have been absent less than 6 days during second semester will be exempt from taking the final assessment.
The only absences that will be considered excused for the purposes of exam exemption include illnesses, bereavement, field trips, up to 4 academic days (college/university visits), school-sponsored exam (for example, AP exam) or extreme personal circumstances if verified and approved by administration.
For a yearly class, the average of quarters 1, 2, 3 & 4 will be calculated, and for a semester two class, it will mean the average of quarters 3 & 4. The quarter 4 average will be through the last day of classes for seniors.
If students are enrolled in an AP course, they are not exempt from an exam. They must either take the AP exam or final exam for the course.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING COURSE @ RMHS
RMHS has developed an Executive Functioning (EF) 9-week course that meets during Tuesday flex blocks. There will be 2-EF courses this school year, the first course will take place from January 5 - March 16, 2023, and the second will take place from March 23 - June 1, 2023. There are a limited number of seats available for each course, due to the number of staff trained in the curriculum. The EF course will be open to all grades. Instructors for the course are RMHS teachers trained in the S.M.A.R.T.S. curriculum. Instructors select appropriate lessons from the S.M.A.R.T.S. curriculum each lesson based on student needs. Please see the attached explanation of topics covered: EF Curriculum Overview (support during Flex).
If you would like your child to receive this support please complete the following Google form, which will remain open until December 19, 2022. Since there is no means to determine how much demand there will be for this intervention, students will be selected for the EF course based on demonstrated need (ex. Grades, reasons provided in google form by parents, etc.)
