Week 2 of Distance Learning
Our Baker Elementary Families are doing a great job of Distance Learning! More and more students are participating and our attendance is amazing! Remember, you can connect with your teacher in any way that works for you. Keep up the great work!
Teacher Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 20 (but honoring our teachers lasts all week)!
Please take a moment to send your teacher a note, message or picture. This is Teacher Appreciation Week and your teacher would love to hear from you.
What Counts For Attendance
Send a picture of your child working on anything related to school. It might be coloring a picture, reading a book, or doing some jumping jacks! Take a picture and send it to your child's teacher.
-Write your child's teacher a note by sending a quick email message. Our teachers would love to hear from you.
-Send a message to your specials teacher: Mrs. Spicer (art), Mr. Weber and Mr. Hudson (PE), Mrs. Barnes (Media), and Mrs. Bailey (music). Let them know that you're singing, drawing, walking, riding or listening to a story. They will pass the information to your classroom teacher.
-Join your class ZOOM meeting: there are fun things going on! Classmates are sharing what they've been doing and teachers are reading stories and doing scavenger hunts.
-Log in to Reading Eggs/Math Seeds, Happy Numbers, Reflex Math or any app or program that your teacher suggests. Your teacher can see that you've been working hard!
-If you are reading books at home or working on packets of material that you picked up, just let your child's teacher know and your child will be marked present.
IT'S TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE 2020/2021 SCHOOL YEAR
Online Registration
If you plan on your child attending WUS next school year, 2020/2021, registration is now open on your parent portal. Parents will be able to register ALL students in the family. Registration is open for all grades Y5's - 12th Grade and for all buildings. Please log in and start the OLR process asap, if you have not already done so.
Also - if your family is planning to move or switch school districts for the 2020/2021 school year, please contact the school office asap to let us know. We will not assign your child to a classroom and this will keep our student numbers more accurate.
Teacher Input forms will only be accepted if the families' OLR is complete. Please see picture below to see where to complete this information in the parent portal. If you have forgotten your parent portal log in information - you can email the helpdesk@waylandunion.org or call our technology department at 269-792-6611.

Every Connection to School Helps Your Child
We know that this may be an unsettling time for you, your family and your child but we are here to help keep things positive! It's okay if you can't do everything, every day. Perhaps one day you can have your child participate in a ZOOM lesson, but the next day you only have time to log in to Reading Eggs for 10 minutes. All school activities, no matter how long or short, big or small, help with learning.
We Are All In This Together!
