Measure R General Obligation Bond Sale
Mr. Matt Kolker from Government Financial Strategies presented an overview of the competitive process and the results of the recent Measure R Bond Sale results that occurred on March 23, 2021. The District has been an avid user of Government Officers Association best practices, several of them were utilized in this year's issuance of bonds, including use of independent financial advisor, competitive process to select underwriter, managed the cost of the debt issuance, call features incorporated into the new issuance and us of debt management policy.
The District received eight bids, with the true interest cost of the winning bid being 2.425% after the bidding; the winning bid was restructured, changing the true interest cost to 2.429%. The sale result was better than budgeted. The winning underwriter was Citigroup Global markets with a true context of 2.425%. After the sale of the first series, we are currently projecting more in proceeds, which means more funds for Measure R facilities projects in Cambrian. Return to In-Person Learning: State and Local Updates
Superintendent Dr. Carrie Andrews shared that our commitment in the Cambrian School District is to continue to serve our students. Over the past 13 months, students, staff, and parents have adapted during these unique times and continue to problem-solve. Given the recent changes with local and state public health department guidelines, we are in an ideal position to transition into the next phase of returning our students to more in-person learning, which has been our ultimate goal.
Each Governing Board member positively acknowledged the hard work that has been done by all stakeholders over the last 13 months. The direction by the Governing Board has always been to bring students back to in-person learning as soon and as safely as possible. As such, the Governing Board unanimously supported increasing in-person instruction for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year beginning Monday, May 3rd. Students in the Virtual School Program will continue to remain in distance learning for the remainder of the school year. More information will be provided in the near future.
Resolution 20-21-20: Supporting People Of Asian Ancestry And Condemning Harassment, Violence And Hatred Toward People Of Asian Descent
The Governing Board of Trustees unanimously voted to adopt Resolution 20-21-20, supporting people of Asian ancestry. Cambrian School District recognizes the strength of diversity made by people of every ancestry and condemns hatred, prejudice, harassment, and violence toward all people. The resolution aligns with the values and mission of our district.
The mission of Cambrian School District is to uphold a caring and collaborative community, develop creative and critical thinkers who communicate effectively, value diversity and are ready to excel in a global society. Through this resolution, the Cambrian School District would like to formally support people of Asian ancestry and condemn harassment, violence and hatred toward people of Asian descent.
The Governing Board unanimously agreed to sign the resolution to indicate the importance of the message and action taken by the Trustees in support of all individuals of Asian ancestry. To review Resolution 20-21-20, click here.
Reduction 20-21-19: Non-Reemployment of Certificated Employees
The Governing Board voted to adopt Reduction 20-21-19: Non-Reemployment of Certificated Employees effective June 30, 2021. On March 4, 2021, the Governing Board of the Cambrian School District adopted Resolution 20-21-17 to decrease 11.0 FTE multiple subject K8 certificated certificated staff due to a reduction or elimination in particular kinds of services. As of June 30, 2021, employees who received personal service and certified mail notice of non-reemployment shall be non-reemployed, effective for the 2021-2022 school year. Technology Plan Update
Mr. Matt Hill, Director of Educational Technology, and Mr. Mujtaba Rauf, Director of Informational Technology, presented the annual update on the Cambrian School District Technology Plan 2019-24. Staff reviewed the accomplishments made this year and discussed priorities moving forward for the 2021-22 school year. The Governing Board acknowledged the incredible amount of work by the entire technology team during the last 13 months in supporting students, staff and families while in distance learning. Next Board Meeting
The next Board of Trustees will be meeting Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in-person at the Cambrian Professional Development Center and the meeting will be conducted through ZOOM as a teleconference in response to the COVID-19 virus situation. An agenda and Zoom information will be sent out the week of the meeting. We hope you can attend, either in-person or online.
