Changed lives in Peru
Update from Joanna
#lifeinPerú
I've been in Perú for almost 3 weeks now
and I wanted to share one moment that has been
inspiring, affirming, challenging and humbling.

It was last Tuesday night,
we had just finished singing and done a bible study on the Spirit of God that was led by Rosita and we were now sharing some of our responses to the study.
Several of us shared, but what hit me the most was what Erasmo shared.
You see, Erasmo and his wife Berta are faithful servants both in the Miraflores church
and the prayer/bible study group in Catacaos.
But what inspires me the most is that Erasmo and Berta said yes to Jesus the night that we had an "evangelistic concert" on a street corner in Catacaos in January 2014,
my first time in Perú.
Erasmo shared the exact date of that night when he said yes to Jesus being Lord of his life and then shared how it wasn't until December 2014 when he was finally ready to completely let go of being dependent on alcohol and
now be solely dependent on the
Spirit of God to lead him.
He was explaining how it was and is a process.
He shared of how grateful he was for that night that he was introduced to the person of Jesus in a life-changing way and he also wanted to share of how it takes people like him some time to surrender things and really themselves completely to the
leading of the Spirit of God.
Transformation is a life-long process.
I sat there with overwhelming joy!
I sat there humbled as I was reminded of how one small concert on a dirt street corner in an impoverished and very spiritually dark community can change 2 lives that are now impacting the kingdom of God in faithful ways!
Sometimes we get to plant seeds.
Sometimes we get to water them.
And sometimes, we get to see those seeds become fruitful trees.
Erasmo and Berta are continuing to become fruitful trees.

- Pray that Erasmo & Berta may continue to surrender more and more of themselves to the Spirit of God's leading for them, their marriage, their family and community
- Pray as they share about the living God who has transformed their lives with their family who have not yet given their lives to Jesus
- Pray that the Peruvian churches may continue to be faithful to the events or ministries, like this evangelistic concert, that the Lord leads us to do
- Pray as Stacy and I prepare logistics and ministries for the ACTION team of 4 young ladies that are coming for the entire month of July
- Pray for my health as my digestive system is getting used to a new place ;)
- Pray for peace and guidance for the nation of Perú as the Peruvian presidential elections will take place this weekend

This was one of the songs we played that night . . .
and it will forever remind me of that night!
The Lord does take the ruins and makes them glorious!
He redeems lives!
