Welcome to Week 8
Last Thursday our Stage 2 students participated in a Netball Gala day. A huge thank you to Mrs King and Mrs Wingrove for organising and running the day. It has been lovely to see our students able to participate in some fun activities after such a restricted year.
This week we will hold our final Recognition Assembly of the year. I have signed a huge number of certificates over the past few days and it is wonderful to see so many students in our school achieving their bronze, silver and gold awards. We have a number of special awards that will also be presented on Wednesday including Sport awards, Debating awards and competition awards. Check out next week's newsletter for names of award recipients and photos!
Next week we will hold our four Presentation assemblies. In keeping with COVID restrictions and guidelines, assemblies will be kept as short as possible. Only guests with a ticket will be granted entry to the school site and all guests will be required to check in using the Service NSW App (see details on contactless check in below). Guests will be required to stay COVID safe at all times and should physically distance from one another. Guests will be asked to leave the school grounds immediately at the conclusion of each assembly. Videos and photos from each assembly will be made available to all families within the week. Thank you for your understanding and support under these challenging circumstances.
Have a great week!
Mrs Khay

Book Week Colouring Competition Winner!
During Book Week, the Canterbury Bankstown Library, who hosted our free K-2 Zoom Book Week event, held a 'Curious Creature' drawing competition. One of our very own students, Zoe R for K/6CB, independently entered the drawing competition and won 1st Place in the kindergarten section. Zoe received a special certificate and a book called 'Searching for Cicadas'. Well done Zoe!!
2ND HAND BOOK SALE - WEEK 9 IN THE LIBRARY!
Get your 50c, $1 and $2 coins ready!! Mrs Shaw is holding a 2nd hand book sale in the library every lunch time during Week 9. Students will have the opportunity to restock their home libraries ready for the school holidays. This is a great chance to purchase some picture books, chapter books and fact books cheaply. All proceeds will go towards purchasing new library resources, your support is much appreciated!
Library - Book Returns
All students K-6 will have received an end of year notice yesterday to return all their library books ASAP. Could you please help your child locate all their library books that they currently have at home. Please read the following options:
1. If your child has already returned their library books, please ignore the notice.
2. If your child has library books at home, students need to return their books to the library this week.
3. If your child can not locate their books or they have been accidently damaged, please send the correct money to the library so Mrs Shaw can replace the books. The amount for each book can be found on the right hand side of the notice.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Dance News
The junior and senior dancers have certainly been challenged this year. Despite the disruptions to lessons and performance restrictions , all members of both dance troupes have shown resilience and been committed performers. Ms Bailey and supervising teachers are very proud of their efforts and would like to congratulate the members on their achievements. Both dance groups have recorded an item each and these can feature in the link below.
The junior dance team are performing to "Ghostbusters'' and senior dancers are dancing to 'High School Musical".
A huge thank you to Ms Bailey for her persistence throughout this unusual year. We really do appreciate your expertise, professionalism and investment of time in the students at Maryland PS.
