February Issue for Maypearl Junior High School

What's happening @ MJH

We have a busy month ahead of us! As we move into February, we are excited to begin a race towards the STAAR assessments. On February 6th we have AVID tutor training. If you are interested in being an AVID tutor for the junior high, please contact Mrs. Farda @ lfarda@maypearlisd.org. AVID tutors can be college students, parents, or community members that want to help us with student success. On February 12th we have our annual Valentine's Dance. The dance will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in our gym. We always have a great time at our dances. This year the entrance into the dance will be school supplies. We will have a list of school supplies needed. These school supplies will be used in Back to School baskets for the 2016-2017 school year. Don't forget students there will be a snack bar with food and refreshments! We will end the month of February with 7th and 8th grade benchmarks. Our students have been working diligently, and we would like to utilize these benchmarks to track their academic growth!

February is going to be a great month! Thank you for taking the time to see what's happening here at MJH!

What are MJH Core Values and why do we have them?

Here at MJH the teacher leaders and administrators have created a set of core values to base all decision and actions. Our students and their success is our top priority. As you read through our core values you will see the many things we do to exemplify these in our everyday interactions with students and parents. In the next month we will be speaking with students and establishing student core values.

The research behind core values:

Manohar and Pandit (2013)

"The values and belief form the philosophy and ideology of the organization, and define the purpose, mission, and long time commitment of the organization. An organization's core values reveal what the organization stands for. The organization's commitment to its values is reflected in the way they are practiced and implemented on a day to day basis."
