2019 Teacher Institute to Study the Tulsa Race Massacre
It is time to apply for this year’s summer institute to study the Tulsa Race Massacre. The institute will be held July 16th-19th, 2019, from 8:30 am-4:30 pm at Wilson Teaching & Learning Academy.
Two years ahead of the 100-year anniversary of the Massacre, a group of approximately 50 teachers from Tulsa Public Schools will convene to learn more about the massacre, tour Greenwood sites, and practice strategies to facilitate conversations about difficult history. We will also spend some time developing lessons to use with students. Participants will receive a stipend for their time and resource development.
Applications for the Summer Institute are being accepted now through May 28th. Use this link to apply. Teachers who attended last summer are welcome to apply again this summer, and teachers will be notified by June 4th of their acceptance into the Institute by June 4.
Apply here by May 28th.

Ellevation's Updated Homepage Coming Soon!
Ellevation will soon have an updated homepage. The Homepage Dashboard allows you to quickly access the most relevant and important data saved as a configuration of one or more data tiles.
When you login to Ellevation, you will see Tulsa’s dashboard that includes information about the number of English Learners and Former English Learners, native languages, and composite levels of students at your site. Below is a quick snapshot of what the new Homepage Dashboard will look like and how you can easily interact with it.
In addition to Tulsa’s dashboard, you have the opportunity to create a dashboard with tiles unique to your needs. If you are interested in learning more at this time, please login to Ellevation and then click on this link to learn how to create a dashboard tile. We will also offer professional learning opportunities to learn more about this feature next school year.
We hope that you will find this new tool helpful in supporting students and teachers at your site and that you will find Ellevation even easier to use. Throughout the summer our team will refine even more of the data you will see on the Homepage Dashboard and are open to suggestions of data you would find useful to see on a daily basis. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your ELD Coordinator with questions, concerns, or suggestions you have about the new Homepage Dashboard.
Ellevation in the Classroom

ELD Teacher
Dual Language Academy
One of my favorite Ellevation activities to use in math is, "Find Your Match." Third graders each had a slip of paper with a fraction on it in word or numerical form, and they walked around saying their fraction and trying to find their match. We then sat in a circle and reviewed their matches, practicing the "th" of "eighth," for example, or pointing out the irregular plural "halves." Naming a number is often half the work in understanding a number - this Ellevation activity is a quick interactive way to practice and assess that.
ESL Certification Reminders
The last date to take the ESL certification exam and receive reimbursement for a passing score was April 28, 2019. Please remember to send a completed reimbursement form, receipt of payment, and a passing score report to LaKrisa Walker by June 1, 2019. If you are not in the emergency certification process, you can have this certification added to your teaching certificate. Notify Talent Management and provide them with a copy of your updated certificate.
