Twin Bluff October Update
We are Safe, Kind & Responsible
A quick word from Mr. Palmatier
Dear TBS Families,
As we get back to school and all of the routines, I hope that September has been a good month for you and your son/daughter. I hope that October is promising as well. Make sure to review the October Newsletter as it includes important information about TBS.
That said, as you can see in the photo below, progress is being made on the TBS playground structure. Crews are putting in footings and the structure itself is ready to be delivered. A HUGE thanks to the many donors we had for this project. The donations range from $10 to $10,000 and they come from all parts of the community. We are planning a formal opening and recognition in the next few weeks.
October is also National Bullying Prevention Month. During this month we we will have activities that promote kindness and community in our school and community. This past week we had a door decorating contest and below are pictures of a few of the entries. Also know that every day, we practice Being Safe, Being Kind, and Being Responsible. I like the word practice because I believe that we need to "coach" every child, every day.
Respectfully,
Chris Palmatier, TBS Principal

We are finally getting our playground!

Life Touch Picture Retake
Do you know what your students are up to online?
You may have heard that recently there was a new trend going on in schools across the US which students learned on a popular app called Tik-Tok. This trend, called "Devious LIcks" persuaded students to steal or destroy objects in their school. Students across the country and even here in Red Wing took part in this "trend" causing damage to our school and stealing from their teachers. Even good kids make mistakes, so please help us by monitoring what they are watching at home so they can make good decisions at school.

Upcoming Flu Clinic
On Tuesday, October 19th. Red Wing schools are offering a flu clinic for students from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Students must be registered ahead of time to get the vaccine.
Student Health Screening Checklist
Each day before your child comes to school, it is important to do a quick assessment of his/her health. Please take a few minutes to review the documents linked below, as they contain very important COVID safety information.
Parents are required and responsible for:
- Screening their children for COVID symptoms each day Screening checklist
- Keeping their children home if they are sick
- Calling the school's attendance line (651-385-4550) if they are sick or have COVID-related symptoms
- Reporting COVID symptoms, diagnosis, or exposure to the district
- If parents have questions, contact Joni Gorman at jmgorman@rwps.org or Shanda Jorgensen at sejorgensen@rwp.org.
- For more information on our RWPS policies please view the RWPS 2021-2022 Learning Plan
Please understand that any child who is exhibiting or complaining of symptoms that resemble those of COVID will be sent home. Our school nurse will always err on the side of caution to keep our school safe for everyone.
Meds at School
Per school district policy, students are not allowed to carry medication of any sort on their person without a doctor's authorization on file. If a parent wants the nurse to give their child medication for occasional use such as pain from an injury, or cold/ allergy meds, we require parents to bring the medication to the nurse for distribution on a short-term basis.Care Clinic COVID Test Results
The school district cannot accept test results from the Care Clinic here in Red Wing. Their tests are Rapid (Antigen) tests that are not sent for cultures. Rapid tests that are not PCR tests can show a false negative. We can only accept PCR tests. Mayo does a Rapid test but theirs is a Rapid PCR test and we can accept these results. Please see this link to the Minnesota Depart of Health that explains the difference between the types of tests.
If you have questions please contact Briana Smith, TBS School Nurse @ 651-385-4535
