Welcome To CES!
NO SCHOOL - Labor Day - September 2nd
There will be NO SCHOOL ON LABOR DAY, Monday, September 2nd. School will resume at normal hours on Tuesday, September 3rd.
School Marathon is Back!
Students in grades 1-4 have begun the 6 week journey of “walking/running” their way to a full 26.2 mile marathon. School Marathon is a non-competitive, fun atmosphere. Every step of the way, students will experience lessons in teamwork, self-esteem, pushing through challenges, and with encouragement from friends, mileage incentives, T-Shirts and medals; students achieve the lofty goal of completing a School Marathon! Every school day students complete one mile. Check in is from 7:20 am-7:45 am and their mile is completed by 8:00 in the morning. School breakfast is available to those participating once they’ve finished their mile. As a reminder, Marathon families are always invited to participate each morning!
Fall Picnic - September 13
The CES Annual Fall Picnic will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019. Families are invited to eat with their child. Costs for the meal are Adults: $3.75 and students $2.55. Current CES students can charge their meals. Parents and siblings that are guests are asked to bring exact change to pay for their meal.

Fall Pictures - September 19 - NOTE CHANGE OF DATE
Picture Day at Concordia Elementary is now Thursday, September 19th. Previous information sent home, as well as the paper copy, had the date as September 17th. Lifetouch had to change that date. Picture packets will be coming home with students. All students will have their picture taken whether you purchase pictures or not. Those families wishing to purchase pictures need to have a separate order for each child and not one check per family. We will not be running School Marathon on picture day! School Marathon will now run on the 17th, but not the 19th.
Early Dismissal - September 20th
All students will be dismissed at 1:30 on Friday, September 20th for CHS Homecoming activities. CAP will be open on this day. There will be NO PM preschool.

Meet Our New Teachers and Staff!
Mandy Davis - 1st Grade
Taylor Danielsen- 2nd Grade
I was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas. After High School graduation I attend Kansas State University pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. While at K-State I met my husband Steen. I graduated from Kansas State University in December 2012 and started my first teaching job in Haysville, Kansas teaching 4th grade since then I have taught 1st grade and Kindergarten in Valley Center, Kansas. I am currently pursuing my Masters from Fort Hays State in Reading Specialist. In May 2014 I married Steen Danielsen and in April 2018 we welcomed our son Mads. In my free time you might see me out running or playing with our two dogs Thor and Elli. I am very excited to be here in Concordia and look forward to an awesome school year!
Karen Reedy - 3rd Grade
Darlene Sipe - CCDC
My name is Darlene Sipe and this will be my 8th year in education. I started my career as a special education paraprofessional, taught my first few years as a certified teacher in 2nd and 3rd grade, and spent half of this last year as a kindergarten para. This will be my first year in pre-school. I am very excited to work with this age group and can’t wait to get started!
I was born in Fresno, California and lived there until moving to Kansas at age thirteen. I graduated from Holton High School, and I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Fort Hays State University. I have taught in Topeka and Hoyt, Kansas and am thrilled to now be a part of Concordia Elementary!
My loving partner, Lance, and I have a blended family with four wonderful children, Parson (6), Averie (6), Grayson (4), and Chase (3). At times our lives can be a bit chaotic and seem like we have two sets of twins, but we are fortunate enough to have such a big family and love spending time together! We also enjoy taking trips, reading, listening to music, and swimming.
Chelsea Martin - KRR Director
My name is Chelsea Martin and I'm the new Kansas Reading Roadmap Program Coordinator for Concordia Elementary School. I'm eager to come back to where I grew up and help students strengthen their literacy skills. I am a graduate of Concordia Jr./Sr. High School. After high school, I attended Cloud County Community College for one year before transferring to Fort Hays State University. I graduated in May of 2018 from FHSU with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Soon after graduation, I began working on my Masters Degree and I graduated this past May, 2019 with a Master of Professional Studies/Emphasis in Human Resource Management degree. My fiance Drake Hake and I live in Jamestown with our two dogs and we're getting married this fall. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, baking, and anything to do with exercise/fitness. One of my passions is working with children, and I'm hopeful that I'll have a positive impact on the younger generation that will one day serve me and many others.
