Principal's Corner
Dear Lake Forest High School Community,
Happy Friday—March is certainly coming in like a lion, but it is nothing a Scout can’t handle! I hope that tonight’s snow is *almost* the end!
I want to congratulate Annika Cottam for her incredible achievement at the IHSA State Finals where she placed third in wrestling. Her hard work and dedication to her sport have paid off, and we are all incredibly proud of her.
The excitement is palpable as our Boys Basketball team has made it to the sectional finals after winning their first round and the regional championship. The team has put in countless hours of practice and dedication, and it is absolutely paying off! Tonight, they will be playing at Grayslake Central at 7:00 PM in the sectional finals, and we know that they will represent Lake Forest High School well! The competition is sure to be tough, but our team has shown time and time again that they are up for the challenge. GO SCOUTS!
Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the band concert and was blown away by the amazing talent of our students. It was truly a remarkable performance, and I want to thank the students and their teachers for their hard work and dedication to the arts. From percussionists to soloists to the full band–we make beautiful music together!
Finally, I want to congratulate Ben Longeway for his outstanding performance in the state swimming competition where he placed 10th in the 100 yard butterfly. His success is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his sport.
Here's to an awesome weekend!
All the best,
Erin

Project Safe Prom
The Junior Class and the APT have been excitedly planning the "Dancing in the Moonlight" traditional Prom at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare for Saturday, May 6th since the beginning of the school year. Now it is around the corner!
Project Safe Prom officially launched last week and we need your support. Did you know the LFHS Prom is completely self-sustaining and we rely solely on ticket sales, junior class fundraising and your generosity? Your donations will help fund a truly magical experience for our LFHS students. Each ticket will remain $95 per person, which includes plated dinner, entertainment, transportation, and security. However, the actual cost to host prom far exceeds the ticket price. We are looking to our generous community to help raise $35,000 to underwrite various costs associated with this event, such as the transportation and security.
Any contribution you are able to make is tax deductible and greatly appreciated! Click the link or scan the QR code below to get started. THANK YOU!

From The National Association of School Nurses
The connection between sleep and health is real, according to the National Sleep Foundation, and it affects every single person regardless of age. Sleep Awareness Week is March 12-18, 2023.
Getting enough sleep is critical for students to learn and grow. Check out the recommendations for sleep by age. Share these tips with families at your school to establish positive sleep habits.
There are also connections between what we eat and how we sleep. The National Sleep Foundation's blog has information on the relationship between food and sleep.
As our high schoolers learn to drive, it's also important to educate them about the dangers of driving while sleepy. Teens are more likely to drive while drowsy and get into a crash. Check out these tips!
