All Kindergarten and 1st grade parents,
To honor the upcoming birthday of Dr. Seuss, we are initiating a challenge called “Pump Up the Volume.” We are challenging each child to read and SUBMIT 2 sheets from February 14-28. The goal is to read 5,500 books in two weeks. Pick out your books now and don’t forget to submit your sheets by February 28!
Thank you for continuing to help foster a love of reading by participating in this great program!

Message from WCPSS: HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THE FLU
This year’s flu season is particularly severe. We need your help to protect children and school staff from being infected with this dangerous virus.
When your child is sick
The best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick. This will help stop the spread of illness to other children and staff. Keep them home when they show any of these symptoms:
- fever of 100 degrees F or higher
- nausea or vomiting
- severe headache
- diarrhea
- red, watery eyes with yellow drainage
- undiagnosed rash
Children should stay home until they have been fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours and free from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea for 12 hours.
Do not give children fever-reducing, anti-nausea/vomiting or anti-diarrhea medication and then send them to school.
If you are called to pick up a sick child at school, please come quickly. If you know your child has been exposed to someone diagnosed with the flu virus, call your doctor immediately to find out what to do.
