Senior Updates
FAFSA/ TASFA
The state priority deadline for the FAFSA/ TASFA was January 15. All seniors are encouraged to complete the application if you have not done so to ensure you will be reviewed for all awards (need-based scholarships, grants, loans, and work study) eligible. If you do not plan on completing the FAFSA, we do ask that you complete this waiver form. Waiver is due by March 2 to Ms. Valverde here. If you are enlisting in the military please email Ms. Valverde for the military waiver. We will be assigning students a FIT for those who have not completed the FAFSA within the next couple of weeks to check in.
(You will notice the waiver says "Draft" because this is a new District process that we are beginning to implement with this year's graduating class and will remain in "draft" format until we receive final approval by TEA.)

TSI Re-tests
The TSI is the Texas Success Initiative which determines a student's college readiness for college coursework. It is required to ensure all students even if you're taking a gap year, enlisting in the military, or attending an out of state school, meet the college ready standards by graduation. Remember, this isn't used for college admission, however, some in state and private universities will want these test results before you are able to register for classes in the Fall. We will be administering the TSI to ALL seniors who have not met requirements Feb. 24 - 27th. Ms. Valverde will be emailing students their assigned date and time for that week in February.
Test scores will be emailed to you immediately following testing (from Accuplacer) so please make sure to download those results to keep for your records.
If you took the SAT recently and have your scores that meet the requirements, please dowload them here to be exempt from taking the TSI.: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfr98q-6oxkyXvdzn1ftn1n9OAL0ncTMKVYr4atL9uCpxNDYA/viewform?usp=sf_link

10th and 11th Grade Updates
ACC Dual Credit Reminders
We offer a few ACC courses here on campus during junior and senior year. Traditionally for juniors we offer U.S History 1301 & 1302 (some students take this the summer before junior year) and for seniors English 1301 & 1302, (this is an option for those students who are not enrolled in the Rhetoric UT OnRamps course their junior year. This course cannot be taken during the summer) and Government 2305 (some will take this course over the summer before their senior year along with Economics 2301 which is not offered at Bowie).
Enrolling in an ACC course is a multi-step process and can be a little confusing so we have scheduled two mandatory FIT sessions for returning and new students to ACC; the first one is an info session which will go through the steps to enroll, the second session will go through the registration process. Students who do not attend these sessions will not be able to enroll in the course. For more information about the enrollment process please click here.
One of the biggest steps to enrolling is meeting the testing requirements. Students must meet the requirements listed below before enrolling in the course. If they do not meet any of the requirements we will be offering the TSI here at Bowie on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Feb. 8 from 8am - 12pm. Space is limited so this testing is only for students in 10th - 11th grade who do not meet the requirements below. Register for the test here. Students, If you have questions about your scores for the following assessments please stop by the College and Career Center.
