When the Gupta Empire ruled over India, it was a great time of learning. Many colleges were founded that allowed Indians to be educated in medicine,'philosophy, religion, astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, and Sankrit. This allowed Indians to advance further than most countries in their time. Their doctors were very skilled with surgeries, in fact they used giant ant claws to stitch up wounds.
Nalanda University
Nalanda University was a Buddhist University that is the most famous university of the time. This school had eight colleges and three libraries. It also had a hospital and it had a monastery (a home for monks). Students here studied medicine and religion. They were also instructed in Buddhist and Hindu philosophy.
