Hello Sachems! Welcome Back!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! Last week was an incredible week to be Sachem! I want to thank you all you are doing to help make the start of this school year a complete success. From all accounts, each of you is working hard in your classes to ensure that you are committing yourself the power of the Sachem. I am so excited for this year ahead! This week we will officially elect the class officers to lead the Class of 2023 through their first year of high school, and we could not be more excited. I am looking forward to the class meeting on Friday. It is quite clear that our ninth-graders are seeing the pride in being a Sachem. We have a very busy week ahead! So, here we go!!
A special note of thanks and appreciation...
- Thank you to the members of the Student Council for hosting a great welcome event for the Class of 2023 and the new members of Student Council. Close to 100 freshmen were in attendance….just awesome.
- Thank you for the STW for opening the Black Box Theater for a wonderful kick-off and welcome to our new students. From all accounts…a great time was had by all at the Fall Coffee House.
- To the members of the Student Council and Cheerleaders who volunteered at the Bat Run on Sunday at MHS. Additionally to the many members of the MHS Community who participated in the Bat Run itself…awesome job! What an incredible day of support to help fight childhood cancer! MHS Goes for the Gold!
- Congratulations to Natalia Parkinson for being named the School Committee Student Representative School Committee. You will be great voice for our students.
- Congratulations to all of the Early College Students who completed the Accuplacer Exam for your courses at Massasoit Community College. Job Well Done!
Character Strong - Advisory Lesson #1 - Community Building
Middleborough High School is VERY excited to launch Character Strong as part of our growing our school community. Just a reminder to all students that we will be following an Advisory Schedule on Monday, September16, 2019 as we will engage in our first lesson of Character Strong. Remember, our theme this month is commitment. What does it mean to you? Get ready for a great launch of Character Strong.
Student Council Update: - Week of September 16!
- Attention all members of the Class of 2023! Please be reminded that Class Elections for your five class officers will take place on Friday, September 20, 2019. A class meeting for all ninth-graders will take place at 7:30am on Friday morning.
- Attention all MHS Students – All completed nomination papers to be a representative for the Student Council are due no later than Friday, September 20, 2019. Nomination papers are available in the main office.
- The first Student Council meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 7:00pm in the MHS Cafeteria! A busy meeting ahead!
Class of 2020 - Senior Class Trip to Florida
The deadline to sign-up to be a part of the Class of 2020 Senior Class Trip to Florida over April vacation. You do not want to miss out on this great way to end your senior year. Please see me with any questions. Literature regarding the trip is available in the main office. Deadline to sign up is Friday, September 27, 2019.
Bring Your Voice to MHS - Join School Council
If you are interested in helping shape our school, then consider being a student representative to the MHS School Council. Please see me this week if you are interested. Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. This committee is open to any student in Grades 9 - 12. Thank you for your consideration.
College Planning Night - September 25, 2019
For seniors applying to college or thinking about it…we are hosting a College Planning Night that is “must” in your planning! This very important event will begin at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in the MHS Auditorium! Important timeline information will be given! Please share this with your parents/guardians!
Attention Parents/Guardians - Coffee with the Counselors - Friday, September 20
MHS Guidance Department will host the first of many Coffee with the Counselors Program on Friday, September 20, 2019 beginning at 7:30am in the MHS Career Center. This event is open to all MHS Parents/Guardians. The event will conclude by 9:00am. We hope you can join us.

Community Service Fair - September 20, 2019
MHS will be hosting a Community Service Fair on Friday, September 20, 2019 during all four lunches in the cafeteria. Come and explore the exciting ways to get involved in making a difference in our town. Please remember that all MHS students are required to complete 24 hours of community service in order to graduate.

Class of 2020 – YEARBOOK INFORMATION AND SENIOR PICTURES
- Seniors, please make sure you are checking your email for the information regarding senior pictures and senior photos. Everything will be done electronically, including the senior favorites and the senior superlatives.
- The deadline for submitting your senior portrait and your baby picture is October 25, 2019.
- Yearbooks will be available for online orders shortly, so please look out for a flyer from Jostens, which will be mailed home soon. This will contain online ordering information, in addition to the tiered pricing. The earlier your order your yearbook, the less expensive it will be.

School Picture Day – September 25, 2019
All students will have their pictures taken by Lifetouch Photography on Wednesday, September 25 during the morning hours. Students in grades 9 – 11 will receive literature about school pictures during Advisory on Monday afternoon. Seniors will be asked to sit for a photo for school ID’s only.

Student Council Lock-In - Save the Date
The annual Student Council Lock-In will be held on Saturday, October 5 – Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 8:00pm to 7:00am in the MHS Gym. Permission slips are available in the main office.
This event is open to MHS Student Council members only.
