A Message From Mrs. Lopez
Happy Sunday Falcon Families!
We had such a tremendous event at our first annual Family Traditions/Multicultural Night on Thursday evening! I want to express my heartfelt thank you to all who came out and provided food, helped to make presentations boards, gave donations, or helped out during the event. We look forward to next year!
This week, we are celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you in advance for supporting our staff in anyway that you can. They are amazing groups of people and I ask that you celebrate them with me. Please see below for some ideas on how you and your child can help to celebrate their teachers and other staff members throughout this week. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.
Reminder to Families:
- You are required to bring a photo ID when entering the building. This will include a driver's license or passport. We will not accept a picture ID on your phone. In addition, if you have someone else pick up your child, they must be listed on your emergency contact in Phoenix and bring have a photo ID as well.
- Kindergarten parents picking up their children, please have the yellow ID tag that accompanies your child with you.
- Please see below for the Bright Bytes survey information. We appreciate your help in completing this survey.
Together, may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly. Thank you for your partnership and have a wonderful week.
In service with you,
Rhonda Lopez
Upcoming Assessments
LCPS will be administering Spring Non Writing SOL tests to students in grades 3-12 from May 9 - June 3, 2022. Tests are administered as part of the Virginia Assessment Program and provide useful data to parents, teachers, and school administrators on what students have learned during instruction.
Students must use their LCPS issued device for testing. Please make sure your student’s chromebook has the most recent version of Chrome before any scheduled SOL tests. Directions on how to ensure your student’s device receives all LCPS required updates can be found here. If you need technical assistance with your student’s device, please reach out to your school’s Digital Experience Specialist Seyed Shobeiri or the Department of Digital Innovation at 571-252-2112.
Expedited Retakes will be offered to students who earn a failing score between 375-399 on any SOL test. Retakes are optional and parental consent is required prior to retesting students.
Please reach out to Brittney Bryan at brittney.bryan@lcps.org or 571-434-4560 with any questions.
Good Afternoon Families,
We are asking that you please complete this survey to help us better provide insights into our new and changing learning environments with the goal of ensuring personalized learning support for all students. We are reaching out to ask you to take part in our school survey. Your responses are completely anonymous, and the survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

Helping Kids Stop Bullying
Teach kids to treat others with respect and kindness. Teach your child that it is wrong to ridicule differences like race, religion, appearance, special needs, gender, economic status. Try to instill a sense of empathy for those who are different. Consider getting involved together in a community group where your child can interact with kids who are different. (kidshealth.org)
Parents/Guardians are advised to give medications at home whenever possible. If it is necessary that a medication be given during school hours, the following regulations must be followed:
- Medication must be brought to school in the original container with appropriate label intact. Parent/guardian must bring medication to the school nurse. Medication will be kept in a locked medicine area of the clinic.
- The school nurse must have written instructions from the physician in order to administer prescription medications. Paperwork can be sent in with students if needed.
Children who are ill and have fevers should be kept at home. They may return to school when fever free for at least 24 hours without use of medication.
Also, be sure to keep the emergency contact phone numbers and information up-to-date so that we can reach you if your child is ill or injured.
Thank you!
