March 2023
From Interim Principal Faro
New Hingham Students, Families, and Community Members,
Happy March! While serving as the Interim Principal of NHRES for my third full month, I continue to be incredibly impressed with the sense of community that has been instilled in this school. The staff has been amazing in their efforts to maintain consistency for students and a driving force to provide ideas to strengthen our culture. Family and community members have been so welcoming and helpful in providing me with information and feedback as I work to fully immerse myself in all things NHRES. Last, but certainly not least, the students have been the bright spot in all of this transition, showing their resiliency and kindness as they, too, have embraced me with open arms. I am truly lucky to have joined the New Hingham community and hope that I can continue to support you all moving forward!
Sadly, our Library/Media Specialist Andrea LeClair, has accepted another position and will be leaving New Hingham at the end of the month. While we are so sad to see Mrs. LeClair leave, we are excited for the new opportunities that await her. Library Assistant, Leah LeBarre, will also be leaving our New Hingham school community and we are equally as sad to see her go. Thank you both for all of your hard work this year to make our Library a wonderful place to learn! We are hopeful that we can fill the Library/Media Specialist through the end of the year and that we will not need to adjust our specials schedule. However, if there are adjustments that need to be made, we will be sure to inform families ASAP! If you are interested in applying for this position or know someone who may be, please visit our website and click on the "Employment Opportunities" tab.
Again, it has been wonderful getting to know so many of you and I hope to continue to building connections with the families and community members of Goshen and Chesterfield. As always, please feel free to reach me via email or by calling the main office for any questions or concerns that you have.
All the best,
Mrs. Faro
MCAS Testing Spring 2023
MCAS dates for grades 3-6 have been set! This April and May, all students in grades 3-6 will be taking the Math and ELA MCAS, and 5th grade will also be taking Science. Below are the upcoming dates for each assessment.
To helps us prepare, all students have been participating in MCAS Preparation Blocks that take place each Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-10am. Each class has been broken down into two smaller groups and will be working with either a classroom teacher, interventionist, or the principal to practice test taking strategies. Using released MCAS exams from previous years, the intent is for students to build their confidence and familiarity with taking this yearly assessment. If you have any questions regarding MCAS, please feel free to contact your child's classroom teacher.

We still have a lot of snow at New Hingham, so please remember to send your child with warm clothes including snow gear (hat, gloves, jacket, snow pants, and snow boots). If your child has outgrown their clothes from last year, please consider donating them to the school as a spare for other children.
March is National Nutrition Month. National Nutrition Month® was created in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to provide education on making good food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits. This year, the theme of nutrition month is “Fuel for the Future'' focusing on sustainability. Some of the topics they discuss are: eat with the environment in mind; see a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; stay nourished and save money; eat a variety of foods from all food groups; and make tasty foods at home. For more information on any of these topics, please visit their website.
I recently found an Instagram page called @traderjoes5itemsorless where Anna Lisa provides recipes using 5 items or less from Trader Joe's. I encourage you all to take a look if you’re on Instagram!
Spring is right around the corner!
