Mrs. Walker's Class
Lessons for Week 7 May 4-8, 2020
Weekly Zoom Meetings Link- NOTE CHANGE IN TIMES
I have set up a reoccurring Meeting Time for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11-12
You will receive your invitation to join in your e-mail. The weather is improving and I know kids need to be outside in the afternoon's, just as if we were in "normal" school!
This week:
*Monday's meeting we will share any Coral Reef Projects we didn't see on Friday and check in.
*Wednesday we will play a game.
*Friday- NO SCHOOL, no meeting this week for Friday
Wolverine's Strong!!
*It is hard to believe it is already May! I am going to try to keep school basic and don't want kiddos on screens as much as they have been. You are all doing fantastic and we are down to 3 weeks!
* I hope the projects have been fun for the students. I love seeing the hard work and excitement they show on their faces when presenting them to me! I LOVED the Earth Day Projects and I really believe they learn a lot doing their projects and even more from presenting them!
*You should be getting information regarding returning Chromebooks or other materials like Library books in the near future.
*Thank you to everyone who has been able to drop off work! It is all looking fantastic! Also, I appreciate the e-mails, texts, messages, and Facebook posts of your kiddos hard at work! I am including some pics in this Smore so if you aren't able to visit on Zoom your child can see some of their classmates!
-The rest is repeat information, just some possible FAQ's and messages that apply for each week:
* I need you all to know that if lessons are taking more than 1 hour for Math or Language Arts that you do not need to go beyond an hour. I am an over planner and I realize there are many distractions at home, parents are still working, these are crazy times. Give yourself some grace and do what you can!
*I see some kiddos are really close to 100% fluency on Reflex Math so I will be contacting you to see if you would like to up it to Multiplication and if that's the case I can supply you with a Multiplication Table to help them out.
*If you are needing refreshers on passwords, tech issues, etc. let me know! I've got the codes :-)
*I want you to know that it is okay to take breaks, breath, skip an activity, do what it takes to maintain your sanity and the sanity of your kiddos! PLEASE, make sure you are taking time for your own SELF CARE!! I appreciate you all SO much!
*Supplies are available at the school on the Drop Off Loop. If there is something else specific you need let me know and I can get it in there for you to pick up.
*I will continue to do a Student Work Collection in the Walker bin Friday's and over the weekend. You can put your child's work in a Large Zip Block Bag, folder, Manila Envelope, or whatever you have available to put it in and label it with their name. Don't worry about Journals as they will need to continue to use them and I can check them at a later date. However if you are not comfortable leaving the house, no worries. I have been consistently checking the online work to make sure your students are active on the programs assigned.
*Specials- In a normal school week we would rotate daily going to Library, PE, and Music. I would encourage you to do the same at home through Mrs. Riggan's link for Library, Mrs. Hayes' link for PE, and Mrs. McClain's link for Music! Be sure to check Mrs. Hayes' for a fun activity we put together as a staff for the kiddos!
*I'm sure there are things that will pop up through the week but I will try to keep email's at a minimum.
Wolverine Strong and have a fantastic week,
Molly Walker
Wolverines at Work!

Lily's Super colorful Coral Reef!
Cruz's Fraction Art

Check out a Virtual Tour of Nick's Minecraft Coral Reef!
Project! Dolphins at Daybreak Sea Creature Report
Dolphin, Hammerhead Shark, Octopus
Here are the steps:
1. Pick one of those 3 creatures as your topic
2. Use the books I have assigned on Epic to do your research on that creature or use whatever source is available to you to answer the following questions:
* What does your creature look like?
-What color?
-How big is it?
-What else can you say about what it looks like?
* Where is it found?
-What is it's habitat?
* What does it eat?
* How does it defend itself?
* Any other interesting information about your creature
Take that information and either write or type a report, create a poster, make a pamphlet, or create a diorama about your creature.
It will be due next Monday the 11th, at our Zoom meeting. If you can't make the meeting send me a picture by e-mail, text, or FB Messenger.
Let me know if you need help!
I have assigned books on Epic that are both Read, Read to Me, or videos so that even if you aren't able to read the books to your child they have something they can listen to or watch to learn from!
RedBird Math- Please give it a shot!
Family instructions - Redbird Math - Get ready for Redbird Math! You will log in from Student Quick Links. It is not just called Redbird but Connect Ed/Redbird. After clicking on Connect Ed/Redbird, you will log in through Clever with your regular school user name and password. Redbird will start by having you answer questions to determine what activities you will do. If the questions seem too hard just do your best, it's a placement activity. After you complete a unit it will unlock games. It is recommended you use Redbird for 20 minutes per day 4 days per week. Teachers will see reports that show how long you work and the work you complete. Enjoy!
