Message from the Principal

Dear Virginia Lake Families,

Happy August! Our back-to-school school countdown continues and we can not wait to welcome the students back in a little over two weeks!

Teacher/classroom assignments will be viewable by parents/guardians in Infinite Campus

on/after August 5th after 4:00 pm. We are working hard on finalizing registrations and placing students appropriately into classrooms as needed. If you have not completed the registration process, please kindly contact our school office to finalize the process as soon as possible. Information about our new teachers will be sent out in my next newsletter. Your child will not be assigned to a classroom until the registration process has been completed.

The Virginia Lake teachers would like to officially invite all of our students to Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday, August 17th from 8:30-9:30 am. We kindly ask students to bring their school supplies to Meet the Teacher. If you and your child are not able to attend our scheduled Meet the Teacher Day, your child may bring his/her supplies on their first day of school. School supply lists have been linked below for your review. All entering our building on this day are asked to wear a mask.

School Supply Lists are available on our school website. School Supply Link.

The POC ( Partners for Our Communities) is hosting its annual Better Together Event on Tuesday, August 10th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Falcon Park, 2195 N. Hicks Rd. in Palatine. The event is fun for the whole family! During the event, families can enjoy activities from several community organizations, including District 15! Our administrators will be handing out books for students to enjoy at home. Free backpacks filled with school supplies are also available for students. Pre-registration is required for the free school supplies. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We hope to see you there!

A friendly reminder, we are hosting our Virtual New Family Orientation this Wednesday. Please see the information below.

News from the Nurse

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! With the start of the new school year only a few weeks away, it is time to make sure your child’s health requirements are up to date.

  • All students new to District 15 will require a current physical exam with all immunizations up to date (Certificate of Child Health Examination), and students new to the State of Illinois will require an eye examination. This form is available in the school office, online, and here: State of Illinois Eye Examination Report.

  • All students should provide proof of immunizations by October 15, 2021, or the student will be excluded from school. The list of current immunizations can be found on the district website here: IDPH Health Requirements.

  • Students with health conditions such as asthma, epilepsy/seizures, severe allergies, and diabetes require the emergency action plan completed by their physician along with the Medication Administration Forms, signed by the physician and parent, for any medications required at school. Please bring these forms and medications on or before the first day of school. These forms are available in the school office, online, and here

  • Asthma Action Plan

  • Seizure Action Plan

  • Allergy Emergency Action Plan

  • Medication Administration Form

  • Diabetic Medical Management Plans must be brought in along with medication and supplies prior to or on the first day of school in order for the student to attend.

If your child requires any of these health documents and you have not done so already, please kindly make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding the above requirements, you may reach me at salibag@ccsd15.net. I will be back in the office the first week of August to answer any phone calls. At that time, we will also have more specific information to share related to COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your patience. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Student Registration for the 2021-22 School Year

Registration is required every year.

If you have already registered your child for the 2021-22 school year, thank you—no further action is required!

With two weeks left before the start of the new school year, we want to remind our families of the new registration and residency verification process. If you have not yet registered your child(ren) for the 2021-22 school year, you MUST complete your registration and proof of residency as soon as possible so your child(ren) is able to start school on the first day of school. Children that do not have a completed registration or proof of residency will NOT be assigned a classroom.

Online student registration for the 2021-22 school year is open. If you have not already started this process for your student(s), please visit our registration page to start this process.

Register your child. Registration is the first step in getting ready for the upcoming school year. After registering online, parents will need to go in person to your child's school and provide:

  • Health Forms. Required health, immunization, dental, and eye exams for students entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth-grade, and those who are new to the district.

  • Prove Residency. If you have a student that is starting Kindergarten, entering 4th grade, or entering 7th grade, you are required to prove residency in District 15. Our residency webpage outlines the documents you will need to provide to prove residency.

Pay student fees. Our student fee webpage outlines the District’s student fee structure and the three ways fees can be paid.

All of the above steps of the enrollment process must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Students of families that, when required, do not prove residency, will not be able to attend class in a District 15 until the family’s residency is verified.
