End of Course Exams
End of Course exams will begin on Monday, May 6th for all students enrolled in the following courses and all students still in need of passing the EOC for these courses. Testing dates are as follows:
Monday, May 6th – Algebra I
Wednesday, May 8th – US History
Thursday, May 9th – Biology
Testing room assignments will be posted in various locations around the building on Wednesday, May 1st .
Testing students will report to 1st period and be released to their testing rooms by announcement.
Non-testing students will follow their normal class schedules.
Some reminders about testing:
- Electronic devices will not be allowed on students during testing. All cell phones must be turned off and in backpacks/belongings at the front or side of the room. Any student found to be in possession of a cell phone during testing will be suspended for the remainder of the day and, pending an inspection of the electronic device, could have their test invalidated and not scored. Electronic devices include any device with internet, camera, recording or messaging capabilities.
- Testing Students will not be allowed access to their backpacks until they are released from the testing room.
- Students may ONLY read a BOOK or remain quiet when they finish testing. They may not read magazines, comic books, textbooks, electronic readers, etc. Students must provide their own book to read. Books should be given to your testing teacher prior to beginning the test to read after the test.
- This is a normal school day, so dress code should remain the same. No pajamas, slippers, hoodies, hats, etc.
- Pillows and blankets will not be allowed.
- Snacks will not be provided.
- Testing students will take a break for lunch. Students MUST have their ids out and ready to go to get through the line in a timely manner.

Spring Semester Exam Schedule and Exemption Information
If a student is a late enrollee and has not been in attendance in any school, he/she is not eligible for second semester exemptions. For those enrolling from other districts/states who have previously attended a school, their attendance for this year will be considered for determining eligibility. If more than three days of school have been missed as absence and/or for moving, the student will not be eligible for semester exemptions.
Criteria for earning exemption status:
- Course average of A = no more than 3 absences
- Course average of B = no more than 2 absences
- Course average of C = no more than 1 absence
- For exemption purposes, 3 tardies = 1 absence
- Classes are independent of one another for attendance and grades
- A student may not exempt in which he/she has an N in conduct or a U in conduct (cannot exempt ANY classes)
- Have no more than 6 hours of after school detention
- Cannot have any in-school or out-of-school suspension, or higher consequences
- Have no fees, fines, or holds
Number of Exemptions:
- 9th Grade Students = may exempt only 1 exam
- 10th Grade Students = may exempt up to 2 exams
- 11th Grade Students = may exempt up to 3 exams
- 12th Grade Students = may exempt all exams during the spring
- ***With the exception of Seniors, students cannot exempt the same class both semesters***
Juniors who are enrolled in the face-to-face AP US History course and who take the AP US History Exam will be eligible for one additional exempted exam for AP US History in the spring semester. To be eligible, the student must sit for the AP US History Exam and cannot have exempted the AP US History final in the fall semester. Students must meet all other grade, attendance, and behavior requirements for this exemption.
Except for the exam period for which a student has been granted an exemption, students are required to attend school during exam week for all classes/courses (academics, band, choir, study hall, student assistant, athletics, etc.)
HCC dual-credit courses CANNOT be exempted.
Extenuating Circumstance Information (Exemption Absences)
Spring Semester Exams are quickly approaching. As part of the exemption process, students may be able to waive absences towards their exemptions if the circumstance was extenuating. Absences to be considered include death of immediate family member, serious illness involving hospitalization, or injury which occurred while a student was representing the school/district at a sponsored event. A maximum number of only 2 absences will be granted. Absences resulting from illnesses such as the flu will not be considered.
Students may pick up this form in their grade-level assistant principal office starting Monday, April 15th. All forms must be turned in by Friday, May 3rd to their grade-level AP office.

Students, if you are no longer using your textbooks please return them to the cart in the library. If you lost or damaged your textbooks there will be a fine. Remember, you won't be able to exempt any class unless you turn them in.

KISD is offering Senior Mini-Semester KOLA classes.

To qualify for the Senior Mini Semester students must:
1. Be classified as a Senior or graduating Junior
2. Have previously failed the course
3. Be currently enrolled and in jeopardy of failing a course
4. Meet Dual Credit failure requirements
· AP Courses cannot be recovered in KOLA
· Dual Credit Algebra cannot be recovered in KOLA
· Original Credit is not offered in KOLA
Cost: $100 per semester course. Cash or Cashier’s Check only.
- · Credit Recovery courses only; No Original Credit will be offered.
- · Students must remain enrolled, attend and active in the course they are failing.
- · Upon completion of all al class. requirements student will receive a 70 on their transcript to replace filing grade.
- · KOLA courses are NCAA approved.
- · SMS classes are scheduled Monday – Thursday, 3 – 6 PM for 3 consecutive weeks.

2019-2020 AP Exam Registration Changes
Beginning Fall 2019, College Board is making changes to the timeline for AP Exam Registration. Students will register and pay for AP exams during the fall registration period. Specific deadlines will be communicated at the beginning of next school year. Semester courses in the spring semester will have an early spring semester registration and payment deadline.

Students have access to FREE, personalized SAT practice through Khan Academy. College Board research shows students who spent an average of 20-22 hours with Khan increased their SAT score an average of 115 points. Below is the link for Free SAT practice:
Student Parking
Student parking regulations have been in effect since Monday, August 20th. All student drivers must have a valid drivers license, valid insurance in their name (not just their vehicle), a $40 parking sticker, and this parent signed document on file with the senior office.
Students may only park in their designated, numbered spots. Students must have their parking sticker prominently displayed on the bottom left hand corner of their windshield above their inspection sticker.
There is a $20 boot fee for students parking illegally for the first boot. There is a $40 boot fee for students parking illegally after their first boot. Students booted must present a valid drivers license to have the boot taken off.
Spring 2019 Katy ISD Community Education Classes
The Spring 2019 Katy ISD Community Education classes are now open for registration. The purpose of Community Education is to provide the general public with learning opportunities including self-improvement, enrichment, recreation and academic courses.
Classes include learning opportunities pertaining to recreational activities, arts and crafts, health and personal development, foreign languages, business and industry skills, finance, computer applications, driver education, college preparatory, and multiple online courses.
Classes start next week! Registration hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The staff and the public are invited to comment on these programs. A written statement for the record must accompany all comments made. In addition, parent surveys have been created to gather input on these programs.

Seniors are expected to remain within dress code during Senior Spirit Week. Seniors will be disciplined accordingly if their dress is deemed out of dress code. Seniors should not risk discipline ahead of prom, senior trip, senior day, and graduation.

Prom Ticket Price Announcement
Prom officially went on sale on April 1st.
Students are encouraged to purchase their prom tickets early for the lowest price. Due to our fundraising efforts over the last 3 years, we are able to sell prom tickets at an incredibly low starting point.
Starting April 15th, an admin fee will be added to underclassmen and outside guests. This fee will not be added on for students who purchase tickets before April 15th.
Guest forms must be turned in at time of purchase. Tickets are sold cash only!
If tickets remain on the day of, they can be purchased at the door for $100.
